Richo said Armo is playing a new role as a forward because we are undermanned. He was just terrible last night, slow and not mobile, just the way Richo likes it. I was disappointed with Seb as well, racks up possessions but only hurts us not the opposition. He should have been on Pendlebury when he kicked his goal, no discipline, just ran around kick chasing without having an impact.

Armo cooked and Mav not AFL standard, not much to like at Sandy but White and Paton could add some speed.
Lonie looked better than both of them so that is a real indictment on their form

I actually thought Lonie was pretty good. He kicked a couple early and applied forward pressure all game. At least he has a crack.

I watched Armo carefully the past two weeks. He is either, playing injured, no longer at AFL standard or, not interested.

He slowly jogs around as if he’s wearing gumboots. I’m being generous when I say ‘jog’, watch him carefully, he just walks around the ground when the play has moved on, not jogging to keep up with opposition to stop them running on and creating a loose man.
He moves in to tackle late, more intent on giving a side bump to a player who has usually disposed of the ball. More he just half heartedly throws his weight around in a ‘pretence’ that he’s doing the hard stuff. Maybe he’s playing sore and it’s some sort of self preservation of his body that makes him seem so lacklustre.
I noticed Seb Ross give him a mighty spray during the Freo match, then on another occasion in that match Ross looked exasperated at one of Armo’s effort & had a few words to him. Armo appeared totally disinterested in whatever Ross said, turned his back on him and ‘walked’ back to his position, yet standing off his opponent by about 10 metres.

IMHO, It’s hard not to get the impression that Armo appears no longer to be interested in giving his all for the Saints........ sad really, as he has been a selfless warrior for the Saints many times over the years. Never thought I could say this about Armo.

On the other hand, If he is playing injured, he should have more respect for his teammates and the Club and put up his hand and say ‘I can’t play the role you are expecting me to in my current condition’, he’s just letting himself down.

We require some experience - and, unfortunately it was our experienced players letting the side down on a raft of criteria

Therefore the assessments should not just include Armitage and Weller

None of our limited 100 game plus players were capable of leading the way and impacting on the result of the game

Newnes kicked 4 granted but in such an inexperienced side he was required to bring his experience to where the game is won

Collingwood got some charities as a given but our lack of height saw all up in defence and Collingwood players on the ground hence the close range goals they scored

Their height appeared to be an issue in attack as we only had Hickey and Marshall with then a role player being Brown until injured

And they appeared to seek to exploit that - successfully as it turned out

In regard height we were missing Carlisle, Bruce, McCartin, Roberton and Gilbert, all 194 or taller - plus Acres, and that appeared telling from the screen

Mav has mungrel. We desperately need it.

Wee have a big lack of quality experience. Unfortunately armo doesn't show enough to make up for his lack speed and agility

I know Loris is a long-standing supporter,
and her insights are always on point and very comprehensive.
I was at the Freo game, but I didn't even notice Armo at all.
Thanks for pointing out his lack of endeavour; I believe his invisibility was a combination
of minimal possessions, minimal impact, as well as it being my first live game since last year,
and I was totally absorbed and wanted to take in everything.

But Armo should not be in the side if he cannot or will not do what he should be doing.
Disinterested or injured, he is being so damn selfish by continuing to put his hand up,
and the selectors are almost criminal for picking him.

Rant over.

I don’t know if Lethlean is the messiah. If he’s on the wrong track then stick a fork into the whole club!

Guess we are in rebuilding phase now and there isn't any room for list cloggers.
Problem is, unless we trade back into the draft, we can't get rid of too many this year

Armo wasn't just bad, he was really bad on Sat night. That kind of form, and the week before from a senior player should be an automatic out. Mav didn't do anything and is bringing nothing to this woefully coached team.

Every time I saw Armitage he looked totally off the pace. Maybe he’s not fit or his head’s not in the right place, but you can’t play him this week based on that form.

Mav, I hardly noticed at all ... which may be even worse.

Ben Patton will debut soon. I’m guessing this week or next.

Armo yes, Mav maybe. Armo isn't even looking like a VFL player out there, Mav had a bad night nut was OK last week. Problem is who do we replace them with?

The mini General can really play guys. Trust me on that. He is quick and tough. He is a very good chance to become one of our best mids going forward. He is a midfielder (always has been) and only played as a small back in the U/18's due to being an overage kid. He did get selected in the BP for the AA side so he can play back also though.

Armo has been a great servant to the club but looks finished.
Never quick, he has lost a yard when the overall pace of the game has increased.
It appears the game has gone past him.
I hope he can bounce back but it doesn't look promising.

I've never bought into the whole Mav package.
I believe he prepares and gives it everything, however I don't believe he would get a game at any finals aspirant and therefore is filling time.

Given we are bottom three I'd prefer to see a young player given a run in his position.

Nah sorry mate, your track record is terrible.

I hope paton can play, but there is absolutely no way I'll take your word for any players.

Very good chance to become one of our best mids? I'm tipping probably very unlikely.

Thanks to Mav for giving your everything, congrats on getting to 100 AFL games & all the best for life after footy.

I've been a big armo fan, but unfortunately he looks done - contracted for next year though so we may have to pay him out to gain another list spot.

You know that old story about the church deep in Hawks territory where the minister put a heading in those little alphabet letters ?

"What would you do if Jesus Christ came to Hawthorn

Someone posted a note underneath saying,

Play him at Centre half forward.

The Hawks at the time had the great Peter Hudson at full forward kicking a hundred or more goals each year. :D

Both players have given their all but would not get a game at most VFL clubs let alone an AFL club now and I include Carlton in that. They are offering nothing to the saints on gameday and that is unlikely to change anytime soon. I havent seen any of the VFL younger players but would assume there would be surely 2 players in the sandy side to promote.
