Sean Spicer (not a great friend of mine) told me that it does make pretty good sense if you throw in a few commas (but not Commies, that's a very important distinction folks), and more importantly, if you print the whole quote. Longer has a long way to go.

Yes, he's a very good (perhaps excellent) tap ruckman. His physicality is good and he doesn't get pushed around.

But he contributes nothing around the ground. He's kicked the ball 9 times in 10 games. He struggles to take a mark.

I'm hoping it's a symptom of him still needing match fitness or perhaps our game structure, because he averaged 3 kicks per game in 2015.

At some point he will need to lift his output, because a guy who doesn't get a kick (literally) is not going to hold his spot forever, even if he's a good tap ruckman. Remember Trent Knobel?
