Make it free like the women's comp - 20,000
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

Is it free for members?
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

Free for members of competing clubs but a ludicrous $20 for Adults that aren't.Enrico_Misso wrote:Is it free for members?

Re: Guess The Crowd: Saints vs Port JLT Speeecial!!!
Won't get 10,000...Playing an interstate team on a Thursday night makes it an unattractive option for many, I'd think.
In the last meaningful H&A game against Power at Etihad we drew less than 15,000 on a Saturday night.
We'll be going well to get 7,000 tonight...but it'll be more like 5,000.
Hard to see any non-members forking out $20 to get in.

Re: Guess The Crowd: Saints vs Port JLT Speeecial!!!
And why not 7:00 instead of 7:40? 7:00 is perfect for those after work to grab a bite to eat before the game. And much, much better for families to go to finish at 9:00 in plenty of time to get kids home for school the next day. Typical AFL/foxtel tv focused, don't give a s*** about those who go and give atmosphere to the game folks.saintspremiers wrote:Free for members of competing clubs but a ludicrous $20 for Adults that aren't.Enrico_Misso wrote:Is it free for members?

Entry to these games doesn't seem to be part of the package info on the Saints website - perhaps I missed it.

Re: Guess The Crowd: Saints vs Port JLT Speeecial!!!
TBH I was keen on going and could've gone, but the first day of a new test series in India caught my attention.
I watched the whole game on telly, but being at home meant I could flick to the cricket at half time and watch cricket before the game began.
Also, the 7.40 start time is stupid. Had it been 7pm with a 9pm ish finish (shorter quarters) would've also been more appealing. I guess they only want to encourage crowds to the women's footy which is free for everyone. Why not make the JLT free entry and actually encourage as many to go as possible?

Or maybe a token $5 to cover some costs.saintspremiers wrote:TBH I was keen on going and could've gone, but the first day of a new test series in India caught my attention.

I hate what the practice games have become. Playing team songs when they run out and after the siren...like the result somehow means something.
Give me the old style when you could go on the ground for a kick during the quarter breaks or get close to the huddle and hear the coach.
I remember one day at Princes Park when Alves gave the team an almighty quarter time spray.
Make it more of a casual environment.
Even the heavy handed Etihad security was out in force with their metal detectors going last night. For a JLT series game with 5,000 people...FFS, what overkill!

What would you know??
I'm sure there would've been extra trains on as well.
Stop talking so much commonsense.
You need to have committees and experiment with radical plans like yours,
and maybe in 5 years that will happen, subject to a few audits and OH&S reviews, and security
clearance to stop the metal detectors.
Then again, insurance policies will stymie any real change.

I live in Perth, so I cannot preach, but if I were still living in Melbourne, as I am a member, hell yes I would go!shrodes wrote:Good guess, it was 5,363. Disappointing turnout, the place was emptycoopergrech wrote:5,000
Seeing almost a full strength Saints team on the park, after the summer break, is like being in the desert and seeing an oasis.
7:40 start is a bit weird though.
A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.
