Good ordinary player, tough as old boots but needs to make way to give a potential champion a go. Maybe play him off the bench at best.

Speaking of Geary, when he suffered from indecision and got caught with the ball, and the Hawks got a goal from the free kick, why was he having a go at his teammate ?

Disposal. Now that we have some elite talent by foot coming through his clangers are really jarring. No doubt on effort but effort isn't enough.

I have been asked to be nice to other posters this evening

However let me say this

Geary made a glaring error today (it happens, not good but... on the other hand he had 16 disposals at 100%

Now if you want to come on and bag his disposal I suggest with the greatest of respect that you at least check the stats

Was he really 100%? I didn't watch it all, was also based on last couple of weeks.

If he can keep it up then I'd have no probs, but that's the thing.

Hard to say, but I reckon he might have been saying "why didn't you let me know I was about to get drilled"

I have said this elsewhere tonight but he was his usual tough as nails for 3 quarters with one significant Clanger; and when he copped one awful one in the chin for which we should have been given a free, he left the ground and the whole team never quite back.

To me, calling him a list clogger is disrespectful.

I accept he will never be a champion of the club and his disposal from time to time makes CJ look like dead eye dick, but for the most part he is safe hands down back, and a real leader down back. He was that today.

When we have someone who is tough enough to fill that spot I have no doubt his time will come. But for now, that person is not yet ready. He might have a little rest next week to give that person a chance to show their wares, but not because he didn't do his job today, but because he copped a shocker that would break the jaw of many others.

Ofcourse Rioli starred all day didn't he? The only time Cyril came into the game was after Gears went off.

What about the clangers , Roo, Fisher ( a few) Monty & Gilbert ( a few) made today?
Open your eyes, go back & watch the replay, see all the shepards Geary does to allow players like Savage etc a clear path through the traffic.
Notice when Fisher leaves his man to intercept the ball ( moreoften he doesn't these days) and the ball back goes over his head and another backman has 2 players to contend with, his own & Fishers, Geary mostly gets over to help out to make sure it ends up in a contest and ball is brought to the ground and a stoppage is created & we have an equal chance to win the contest.

Geary haters open your eyes, you can't keep picking on his kicking - because the role he plays now, his kicking isn't letting him down these days.

Geary wasn't the main culprit in that incident. He played on because Templeton was free but just as he was going to kick it, a hawks player closed Templeton down. Instead of moving to space, Eli was stationary. Something that Eli will learn from. If Geary had of kicked where he was originally intending it would have been a turnover anyway.

As Gears moved to play on, Eli turned and had his back to him and left Gears hanging. It was just bad timing.

I didn't see the game but this feels like the Raph Clarke thing...

Raph was a very underrated player for mine who was insanely harshly criticised most notably because he would occasionally make glaring bad errors.

I really liked the player... Was one of my favs to be honest. However, the same things kept happening again and again and it got a bit tiring trying to defend him all the time.

Geary is a good player. He is best 22 at the moment. We need to replace him with a better version of himself that does not have his particular deficiency. It's that simple.
This issue just keeps popping up.

If he was the one that nulled Cyril then he had a good game. Definitely earned his spot.

But i don't think he gets a spot next year if we are serious about making a push up the ladder with our future players. this year we are still developing the young guys, some who probably haven't played well enough at Vfl to earn the spot (yet). If he is playing for us in 2 years we didn't rebuild right, the hard part will be Richo making tough call to let a leader go.
