Open training reports jan 2014

Post: # 1525708Post gringo »

I went to the training today and unfortunately Jack Steven didn't train and was told he was injured does anyone know what's wrong. If it's the foot it a worrying trend. Gilbo wasn't noticed either.

Billings was noticeably bigger, Goddard looks like he will fill out to be an absolute ox. His frame is genuinely massive. He will bulk up around the 100kgs mark IMO and already around 198 cm.

Lee looked like he was marking beautifully so hopefully shoulders are good. Hickey still nursing his knee, Dustan was still doing non contact stuff. Roberton said he's definitely not going to be a KPD. Said the opposite so must have his run back. Fisher and Wright said their bodies are in excellent knick.

Curren said he's probably staying forward, Membery just happy to get a game anywhere on the ground. Bruce said he was playing forward. mc Cartin a really nice guy and moves well to the right spots. Spencer was looking big and fit.

Pierce said they are looking at him for Rhys' old role as a ruck forward and he played about 30% of junior footy forward. Ahmed looks magnificent and is just an awesome happy little guy and looks like his tackling and running as better than ever. Eli, Acres, Billings, Dustan all in one group and all pretty even but Billings looks just super classy.

He was signing so I imagine he was in the group with Spencer at the other end of the ground. I didn't get to see him doing any actual training though.

I forgot to say earlier, thanks Gringo for the feedback. From a time perspective, it's very generous of you to take the time write your report up. It's good that others can get a bit of feedback.

I was going to get down there myself, but dropped off when it was raining early on and not looking too good for the rest of the day.

http://www.saints.com.au/video/2015-01- ... ing-jan-14

the young man at the end of this video did indeed pass the sheet of paper to one of the players to pass to Alan Richardson.... player who hadn't actually trained with main group- But good on the young man for taking notes and giving a % rating...

although he did rate Nick 100% when Nick ran a few laps, kicked a few balls then adjourned to second oval where the rehabing group where,
those not with main group=- or that I couldn't pick
Schneider
JBT
Hickey
Riewoldt

was Steven in main group?

did anyone see Saunders?
Newnes?

anyone work out if Dunstan was a) in trouble, B) been the best trainer c) under a cloud--- he wore a flouro orange vest throughout the session.

I assume the young guy working lots with Peta was Giovanni the NZ scholarship player.

Great vibe amongst the kids.

Ahmed has a challenger for happiest guy at the club in Hugh.

Daniel had his ankle strapped, I must of missed what's going on there.

I didn't see Newnes either, Siposs & Schneids as well.

Another preseason and guys like Blake, Dunstan & Billings that bit stockier.

Armo has slimmed down, Weller & Simpkin bulked up?

Jason Holmes appears popular, lots of encouragement from the boys.

Roo did vanish but returned for pics.

Enjoyed watching Dunstan & Billings especially, so poised.

He's obviously pissed off with the club and knows he's leaving at the end of the year so he's refusing to train. :D

Giovanni was the big Kiwi kid, Newness and Saunders were hard to see so possibly missing. Steven was confirmed injured by at least 4 players but none would say what. Dustan said to me he had 4 pins in his shoulder a few weeks out from the end of the season and it was a 6 month injury. He was wearing the orange no contact vest but completed the session. He said he should be right for the proper season though. Hickey said his knee is still not ready to go but in a couple of weeks he should be back training properly and was running on it. Had a bandage on it though like they are fluid draining. Didn't notice Joe BT.

Payne could challenge the pair of them though -he never stops smiling brad Johnson style. Goddard and Mc cartin are both very affable guys. I thought Dunstans arms had shrunk but he's got quads like pier posts. Blakers and Billings looked noticeably bigger. Mav is like a ball of muscle.

Enjoyed watching Dunstan & Billings especially, so poised.

Markworth said his ankle had just rolled and swelled up and will be back pretty soon.

Daniel Markworth - rolled a couple of weeks ago- back in training next week,

Siposs was seen near the rooms at one point.Shoulder in sling.

did hear Jack Lonie say some ligament damage with his rolled ankle.

JBT also ankle soreness hence the rehab group on the second oval.

Sexton mentions injured ones in this video

Side notes;
# was good to see some drills held on the street side of the oval and not over near the freeway where no one can see them
# there are now a couple of benches on the grassed area, but fill early
# Good to see Danny out there

free yogurt was nice :0
