I think he would have been happy just to get picked up. He was at the Bullants with some of Carlton's players so would obviously have been a happy second option but any club would be a relief.

Good stuff- successful clubs have strong cores and give those who want to succeed, every opportunity. I hope this is a new era where the Saints are setting good core values from the bottom up, and we have situation where every player on the list has to set a higher standard to go the next step. I feel that there will be a lot of competition for senior places in 2015, and a hungry team is a good team in my books.

great to have him back he will give his all , even the doubters on here will not hinder him and even if he doesn`t find the form needed he will still be putting pressure on whoever is in his possie which is what we need in most areas at the saints, players play better when they know theres another one is ready to step into that spot.

As we still have Gilbert on our primary list that shouldn't be an issue.

Did anyone notice his Audi in the clip on the Saints website. He should have stuck to being a stock broker. A rookie wage wouldn't cover the repayments on the wheels and tires.

Saady can be a valuable player playing the defensive small forward role. We know what he's capable of. Compare his stats to this guy from Hawks;

2012 Ahmed Saad played 16 games, had 156 disposals (average 9.75) kicked 28 goals (av 1.75) and laid 52 tackles (av 3.25)

2012 "Hawthorn Player" played 21 games, had 223 disposals (average 10.62), Kicked 24 goals (av 1.14) and laid 64 tackles (av 3.0)

Who is he and would you have the Hawk player in your club if you could rookie him?

And btw "Hawthorn Player" just turned 27 where as Saady is only 25

He is in an important age bracket for the club and is a specialist small forward which we lack, while we develop Lonie. If he gets on to the main list I think he will be an asset. We also picked up Schneider again, so he may get in Saad's way.

AHMED SAAD BACK - GAME ON !

Post: # 1521433Post Megamaguire »

I'm Very, Very pleased and excited for Ahmed.

I have to say it hurt to see him rubbed out for so long and prevented from playing for the Saints.
But my angst has been relieved with Ahmed back and ready to push himself forward into contention once again.

I liked the way Ahmed kept himself positive and demonstrated great determination to get back.

GOOD LUCK AHMED SAAD!

GO SAINTS ! :D

The boy can play and we can build a defence around him that will have respect.

The AFL Commission is set to confirm that St Kilda's Ahmed Saad will be allowed to resume training with club from January, despite being banned from playing until the end of February due to his doping suspension.

St Kilda's chief operating officer Ameet Bains said the AFL Commission was expected to allow Saad to train - a ruling in line with new government legislation on doping - at its scheduled meeting on Monday. "I think it will be a formality," he said.

Hopefully that position went West with master-coach Lyon!

this is what we are going to cop every time his name is mentioned for ever more

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/a ... 26m8w.html

"ASADA appealed his 18-month suspension, arguing unsuccessfully for a two-year ban.

Saad returned a positive drug test for methyl synephrine HCL, which is banned for use on game day. He acknowledged he had used a product - Viking Protein's "Before Battle" - regularly without knowing it was not permitted on match days.'

Cop what?

Pretty universally accepted that he has paid a massive price for an innocent mistake.

I see your concerns here Sting, based on how any perception of something negative attached (even tenuously) to our beloved club tends to be magnified out of all proportion. So feeling a tad uneasy is understandable.

My take would be that on this occasion, public sympathy would be strongly with us. (And hey, then there's that whole new demographic to the game... the Islamic community to get onto the Saint's bandwagon. :D )

I also rate Ahmed as a player. He's now more experienced (life wise), plus I'm happy to put his form drop-off down to having been due to the combination of injury (shoulder?), and the worry over knowing that he'd failed a test.

Looking forward to seeing that newly invented left boot Ahmed! :D
