Chris (??) Fidler...

Long sleeves, No 36, lots of blonde hair....always seemed to play well in the 2's
at Moorabbin, prior to the big game.
Maybe I just remember him because of the hair...

Greg Packham was a crowd fav....he was very small...that small he'd be burnt today !

DAX

anyone remember?
rucked in the 2nds, maybe early '90s -- not sure if he ever played a senior game
a real old fashioned bare-knuckle enforcer
barrell chested, buzz cut, looked about 40.

Actually, I'm going to revive my 'favourite mediocre' team from some time ago.

(Sorry I can't get this to format properly)

[img]TEAM OF THE CENTURY (MY VERY WORST OF THE ‘80s & ‘90s)
[NB this was written whichever year it was that Pecko had the terrible fumbles -- mid '90s?]

Backs
ANDREW JOBLING
Pecko on a bad day
STEPHEN PIRRIE
Can remember only a handful of shockers
GLEN MIDDLEMISS
Crude but incompetent

Half Backs
ALDO DI PETTA
Sorry Aldo
RUSSELL MORRIS
Perpetually in reverse gear
JAMIE LAMB
Long sleeves pulled over cold little handies in case they got hurt

Centres
R. AMOORE
Forgotten triplet of Bill and Ben
ANDREW MANNING
Laziest mover ever to pull on the R,W&B
RICK(?) SUTHERLAND
“Kick the ball with your foot, Rick.” I heard StK teammates yell this.

Half Forwards
MICHAEL FROST
One good game only, for Footscray against us in ’92 semi final
JODI ARNOL
A true legend
DAVID STROOPER
Completes a H-F line of inspired first draft picks.

Forwards
JOHN PETER-BUDGE
Once saw him kick under the man on the mark
DAMIEN KITSCHKE
50-50 chance if in the goal square
TONY ANTROBUS
Well worth it for the “Angry Ant” mullett

Followers
WARWICK GREENE
Unnecessarily delayed his move into journalism
MILAN FALETIC
“Pathetic Faletic”
CRAIG DEVONPORT
Had ability to turn the game around singlehandedly

Interchange
DONNY DISCHER
DARYL COWIE
FLANAGAN
BINGHAM
Emergencies
DAX
BUTTERSS
Coach
TIMMY
Dropped:
WILLO “I Am The One” WILSON[/img]

LEGENDS ALL!!

Good list but definitely don't agree with Russell Morris and Craig Davenport I IMO they were really good players with us. Could think of heaps before them.

Darryl "The Cow" Cowie
Gary Lofts
Jeff Fehring
Mordy Bromberg
John Durnan
Ben Ingleton
Jon Riggs (who was a sprinter from Burnie I think)
Filthy Phil Cronan
Andrew "Jobbers" Jobling
John "Beany" Bennett
Peter Melesso
Glenn Brown

Jeff Fehring is remembered best for "that kick", he was a farmer from thet mallee I may have taken his own life when tough times hit the land. Mordy Bromberg is a Federal Court judge I think.

Won the "King of the Mountain" run in Wycheproof, three times. It involved carrying a sack of grain up to the peak which was about 600 metres high, IIRC. Great at carrying wheat bags up mountains. Not so great at paying football! More's the pity. Saw him play in a reserves game, but I don't think he ever played senior footy.

My bad. Mt. Wycheproof is only 43 metres in height. Smallest mountain in Australia. The race itself is about a kilometre in length.

Didn't see this when you first posted it Avid. Glad it's been bumped. I laughed. Excellent effort to remember all those players. Must be a genuiune die hard Saints man with lots of Moorabbin afternoons under your belt to have that info stored in your head.

Con Gorozides. Able to hit a 70 year old teacher in the the side of the head with a stab pass from 50 metres. Always smiling.

A bit harsh on Devo and Russell but funny nonetheless.

Russell Jeffries, Glen Middlemiss, Robert " Scratcher " Neal, Neil Mcleod (from Fitzroy) Bradley Gotch, David Winbanks, Dean Herbert all found their football career continuing thanks to our lack of success and desperation to win back in the day. Thank god our current systems don't allow for these scenarios to occur as often. Having said that it was fun at the time.
