Have not seen anything in the games he's played to suggest he's going to be in our best 22 moving forward.
Harsh but would rather see Terry keep getting games or a Markworth given a chance cause I think we can see what Ross will give us down the track and it's not what we need.
Shenton given a game has taken his chance ...

PS - Jones needs to go ....

Jack Newnes happy to be a Saint !!!! PS and to hit a target !!!

Agree, far too slow. Would be good on a bog ground in tassie though.

Luke Ball seems to be a similar type player. Sometimes Bally stands out when he takes a mark and struggles with his kicks, some weeks you watch his games and think to yourself that he's slow and ineffective, but when you watch the replay on tv and they focus in on the congestion you see the value of the player.

Most fans at the game miss a lot of the clearance work and grunt work in close and don't see who gets the possession in the middle of the congestion. Players like Bally rack up a lot of possessions that we miss.

Richo commented tonight in the after match presser that he was happy with Seb's first half. I'd like to think that Seb could also improve to the point that he could emulate the work of Bally and bring value to the team as an inside mid.

Slow at treacle (whatever that is).

Armitage for jones next week then that's it . I'd be happy for tonight to be his last game . As for Ross he looks average at best.

Newnes also gave away 4 of 18 free kicks. He may need some tackling (and kicking) practice.

Well, seeing this thread is about Seb Ross. ...

I'm unconvinced, but I totally believe that he needs games to see whether he can find a way to cope with the pace of the game.

Noting where we are at present I find some of the comments about him and lack of patience pretty sad. All of our young players will need time to develop, too many probably won't make it. But I'm damned if I can understand why some of our SUPPORTERS seem only too happy to write off our own kids at the first opportunity. Is there some sort of award for the first person who said young so & so is going to be a dud?

You cannot possibly compare seb ross with luke ball.
luke was a child prodigy club captain at 21 and a number 2 draft pick.
I know RL didnt rate him but he was very capable early.
lacks pace but bloody good at his role.

While I agree, is there room in premiership teams for plodders?

the seasons a write off

all of the players that are outside our best 22 are there because atm, they are not good enough.

when they get selected into the team, they are still not good enough.

the question is can they get better...? That's what we're trying to answer.

And the format to that answer is something like this... does the right things at Sandy, earns an opportunity, gets 4-5 games to settle and we see if they can improve enough

Maister got his chance and the answer looks like no.

After being heavily criticized and written off repeatedly for 2 odd years, Siposs and Milera have come back and at least shown some initial improvement

Stanley showed some improvement but seems to have regressed a little

Guys like Shenton and Ross are getting that chance now and Dunnell doesn't look far away.

You can't just write Ross off without him having his opportunity. He may not make it but it's unfair to judge him after 2.5 nonconsecutive games in total this season.

Guys like Jones, and Schneider have had their opportunity and they're not impressing... a player like Weller should have 5 more games at least under his belt. Not only have we gained nothing by playing Jones... we're further behind in the rebuild

The fact that we played CJ ahead of Ledger last season is and remains a joke

Titanic goes through icebergs. Maybe Ross needs to run through players also.

Seb is a bit slow, but gives plenty of effort. Like many others, he should be judged at the end of the season, not now, when we are getting rolled every week. I sometimes wonder how good some of these guys would be if they were playing in top sides. For instance, Savage looked great in a Hawthorn team and played finals!

Im of the opinion that ordinary players can look good in good sides but good players should look good in any side. I would suggest that Seb like Stanley and Lee arent up to it.

Seb needs to work on getting a n extra half second with the ball so he's not so rushed and can execute better, work on his pace and his turning circle and chasing,it appears at times he gives up the chase bit he must be given games !
