Most importantly, there's a pub over the road from the ground

Can I start a vote Liberal in November for the sake of St.Kilda thread?

(Not that you should ever vote otherwise of course )

Not unless I can start a cut off your arm to save your foot campaign. You obviously don't live in Victoria.

Great initiative from the club. This is a show of strength even if it goes nowhere. We need to put ourselves out there and assert ourselves. It's exactly what the Hawks did to go from a middling nothing team to a power house. The AFL will continue to see us as easily shunted while we pay for Eddie and Demitriou to go and eat hotdogs at Yankie stadium as an "equalisation" junket. It's worked so far hasn't it.

It makes so much sense to get ourselves promoting the suburb along with our club and will tie us in with the home land. Apparently they are looking at 2018 as a return. Hawks are already looking at moving according to Gaze on SEN. Hiding out back in an industrial estate on a ground that is manifestly inadequate was idiocy in the extreme.

Voting for Liberal in Victoria is sort of like punching your own head in.

Voting labor in any state or fed election is like saying you are either on welfare, on the take from the trade union movement or a part of the public service gravy train. There is no other sensible possibility...barring insanity I guess.

Tony Dodemaide coming up on SEN... will provide a fair idea if this news is just BS or has some legs. CV hold the ace in all of this.

And when do the cricket take over the ground at the start of their season for wicket preparation, etc?, in the middle of the finals (if we are lucky enough to be back in them one day)?
There will be 2 ovals, one for cricket the other for football. Not too hard is it?
So we are not actually going back to the JUNCTION OVAL. We are going back to the suburb that we have been named after and training on the Trott Oval.

Also I think they would be sub-leasing Seaford which still leaves Moorabbin as a possible training venue as well.

It seems to me that you and I are the only ones who don't live in fantasyland. The StKilda Cricket Club has been the Lessee (Head Tenant) of the Junction Oval since the year dot and made it very hard for the Football Club to survive there in the 50's and 60's and the same situation would apply today. That's why the Footy Club established Moorabbin in 1964/65.
There is absolutely no way in the wide world could, or would, the Cricket Club and Cricket Australia bow to the Football Club and give it control of the Junction Oval for at least 11 months of the year (for the Footy Club will need the facilities for that period, more likely the whole year). Not possible.
So come down to earth you dreamers - including Caroline Wilson.

GSG it is pretty clear to everyone that we are not talking about the Juction Oval, we are talking about a scond oval, near the Junction and a combined admin/gym etc.

Hopefully the Club will think outside the square and create another revenue stream for the Club, in such a very well visited suburb of Melbourne, by workers near the ground, tourists and others who frequent St Kilda.

Voting Liberal says you aspire to be something you are never going to be like a Bangkok Gucci bag. I'm a business owner married to a lawyer and never will vote Liberal and I have links to party members and family friends in the party. Unless you are a mining magnate or a media oligarch there is nothing going on that will help you. Neoconservatism has seen the end of the party looking to help people like me and moved to this idea of free market economies and individualism that will never do any good for anyone but people like Murdoch and Rienhardt. I hope the US version of a trickle down wealth platform never takes hold. It makes no sense economically.

Labour isn't much better these days but a platform of social justice and public access to health and education is an absolute must. We should look to northern Europe not the US. I would rather walk down the street a bit poorer than live in a gated community.

Ideally you would want the stand alone stkilda reserves team to play their games at the renovated moorrabbin to keep a presence down in the southern suburbs as well as attract people to the pokies etc.
I ll never forget the buzz around stkilda when the saints played in the 2010 grand final. all the shops, locals and backpackers were right behind the saints.

We were hounded out of the Junction Oval by cricket.

Now they want a co-tenant to help secure upgraded facilities.

Tony Dodemaide made it perfectly clear that cricket will retain overall control of the facilities.

Call me cynical, but I see history repeating itself as soon as it's convenient.

Gringo if you had your way, you'd be more than a bit poorer, the whole country would be bust.
Fortunately the labor debt monkeys are in opposition, waiting for the big bad liberal party to fix their mistakes and recapitalise the country, before people like you vote them out so labor can piss it all up again. What a great cycle.

The Junction proposal in very early stages only.............

Moorabbin will/is being upgraded to host training/merchandise outlet etc/maybe an expansion of the Club museum AND A ST. KILDA VFL side.
The location will also be used by other football bodies including SFL/SMJFL and maybe a development base for the dragons

St Kilda could have some connection with Seaford (academy ) or on a needs bases...................other community groups would need to become tenants to spread cost.

Our community camp could still be Portsea etc

This could give the CLUB presence ....from Junction..................to Moorabbin..........Seaford.............to Portsea
THE logo and brand well spread.

The recently released info at the season launch carried the theme......having a presence from St Kilda to peninsula...........with saint hubs along the way.

Only a vision at this stage.

Go Saints.

Saints need to have absolute total control during the football season.
If that's not set in stone then I wouldn't go back there.

Why?

If another connecting oval upgraded.................admin/indoor facilities could be multi purpose etc

This has being in the pipeline since the federal gov refused $$$ grant. Tim O'Sullivan approached Peter Summer, who in turn proposed a joint venture to the AFL.
The Saints originally wanted their Admin and naming rights to the ground (Linen House). But have seen a greater scope to it.
Their new Admin offices is as we speak being built at the old Heritage Museum building, at Moorabbin, 8 brand new plush offices.
The old coaches box is also going to be redeveloped in to offices as well.

So our recent promotional run at the Junction Oval was exactly that.
We will use BOTH a redeveloped Moorabbin Oval, VFL games, and Junction Oval as admin/training (promotional vehicle)

Summers is the driving force behind this, is using contacts in Gov including ASC.
I feel we finally have a great president in the making, although his public speaking needs improvement, his relationship with Gillon McLachlan will prove fruitful for the Saints.

As Dave mentioned in another thread, this has being in the winds since last Nov and will happen. But only if the Saints get their way, make no mistake, we hold the upper hand in all of this. :D
