Despite his slight physique, Eli is prepared to go body on body against much bigger players. It shows that he has played seniors previously. Particularly liked himmixing it with Josh Hunt taking him across the boundary. Way more than just skilful this lad.

We've got some very good young players.

The recruiters are doing a good job, more hits than misses which is a change for the better

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Eli to Dunstan was VG.

When was the last time two newbies did that?
Very impressive, for a slow player Dunstan has some great wheels….

Plus you have to remember his near perfect pass to Dunstan in the goal square a bit before that
I've never been more confident that someone was going to kick a goal than I was with Eli kicking that set shot. Seems to love having the focus on him.

His confidence with the ball is incredible. Every time he gets it he's composed, always does something good, sometimes does something amazing.

Milne-like in when there's a clear path to goal he will take it. But also much smarter at knowing when and when not to play on!

Me too, only time I've ever told the young bloke to pick the flag up and start waving, this is going through!!!!

The best goal scorers are those that love scoring a goal. And Eli LOVES A GOAL. Nice and thirsty. Keep it up son!

Yes! I have been thinking how sad it will be to not have Milney in the team this year, but this guy turned up at just the right time!

So exciting whenever he gets his hands on it. Reminds me of Milne a lot.

Also, how did the other clubs get him so wrong?!

How long does he have on the list due to LTI???

another 9 weeks ..maybe...[/quote

We were saying we might need to send someone out Tonya Harding style to help him keep a spot. Hobbling your own players isn't so bad is it?

Surely there'll be another serious injury by then? After Round 11 we get a free rookie upgrade anyway so that's not too far away. Only a couple of weeks between Lewie Pierce coming back and then.

Eli should be wearing the 44 jumper! Great game from the young fella.

Would be nice seeing him get the rising star nomination this week. Did any other eligible nominees perform better?

Lappin
Better comparison than Milney IMO

Eli is taller, thinner, better up ground, kicks better straight at goal than snapping
Milney quicker first few steps, and hip strength lower COG

Eli over a longer distance, much better kicking technique than Milney

Eli would be wasted being played as a small forward his whole career. He's got elite endurance. 15.3 beep test and 10m5s 3k time trial at last years draft combine. Partly explains why he's playing senior footy and was upgraded. His fitness was ready to go.

Ideal type player's to play as your small forwards are Eli and Saunders. Both will go through the midfield rotation with their skills and both have the defensive side of the game required.

Most players would be wasted as purely a small forward these days...

Rotate them through the midfield.

Why was he effectively pick 75 odd in the draft?

Probably due to his size. Clubs can outsmart themselves sometimes. Aussie Jones slipped through to the70s because he was considered too small.
