He's not a coach, is he? He's not actually trying to win games, more to develop our kids in the best possible way. Too soon to tell on that account, but I don't think win-loss record is going to be the right measure of him.

Not sure if you are serious or not? Simon McPhee is coach of Sandringham, his job is to win games but also develop young guys. Sandringham wouldn't have him as coach if he was just not interested in getting them into finals and fighting for premierships.

Only saw the second half but did not notice how many frees or fifty meters against him. So I am guessing it was not noticeable to me that there was not many.

As a whole there were a lot of fifty meters in the development game in the half I saw, Spencer from my recollection gave away one free can't recall a fifty.

But given the question I am guessing you know the answer so please enlighten me as I would love to know.

Sure. But hasn't he got one hand tied behind his back because his main priority is to get games into the Saints kids? So for instance Holmes will get games when he shouldn't because the Saints want to find out about him ASAP.

That's my impression from the outside anyway, but you'd know better than me.
