Hrm so what have we got left....?

25 for Longer
41 for Bruce

And use the first 3 rounders on draft?

Anyone want to swap pick 3 for Collingwood's 6 and 10? I'd temp them with it :P

Or maybe give GWS, Pick #25, they'd give us #29 & Bruce.

Let's face it, Bruce is gone either for nothing or they'll have to take whatever they can. They can get 41 which they dont want, or get an upgrade from 29 to 25, whilst losing Bruce which is going to happen either way. I think they'd be up for that tbh. They seem interested in lower picks.

Then for Longer, give Brisbane picks #29 & #41, rather than just #25?
Depends what Brisbane wants I guess but they might be happy with two picks rather than one pick which is only 4 spots down. Can Longer walk in the PSD as well?

Bris would end up with picks #7, #22, #29, #33, #34, #41, #45... seems ok to me?

Not if they are losing players other clubs think can play.

Bris can't do anything about it. They want out, you can rarely change that many players minds. One or two no worries, but 5+ forget it. Clearly they just need to move them on and get new talent/picks. No point making someone stay around if they don't want to be there.

Brisbane doesn't have much choice. It just depends if they want. We're never going to give them anything under #20, so just thinking of some options.

So we can get them all back in a couple of years after they have been developed....

I know all that but losing those players and getting those picks doesnt seem ok to me. There is obviously huge problems up there. maybe players only stayed there previously because they were being paid overs because of the allowance they got. i expect the same to happen to Sydney once they lose the allownce especially if they go down the ladder which will eventually happen. The AFL have some work to do in those states.

Happy days on Bruce...

Maybe we can offer 25 & 41 for Longer if GWS are going sook.

Ah, but then how are you going to pick up Bruce? Doubt he'd last to Pick #95

I think he is suggesting the PSD.

Yep.
Doesn't nominate for draft and has an assurance from us we'll get him in PSD. Unless Melbourne beat us to it...not sure of the chances of this though...seems like it will be a formality if we go that way.
I like lefty's idea...#25 for Bruce instead of 41...GWS want low picks. They can give us #29 in return...might appeal more to GWS than 41 which they don't want it seems/may not use as they already have more than a few low picks....and on trade #29 and #41 to Brisbane who need to replace Docherty, Yeo, Polec, Longer and Karnezis...and re-develop their list with a new batch of draft picks. Makes sense and seems to have merit for all 3 clubs...and we eliminate any chance of Melbourne stealing our man in the PSD.

Devil head where have you been for the last 3 weeks in a hole? The club nearly did sack Watters but now they have moved on, I suggest you do the same !

Oh and on Bruce - you might not have heard Pelchen and co state that their goal for the trade period was to get two tall key defenders. IMO Bruce will be a very solid CHB/FB and will be the better of the two if we get him ! IMO it should not be considered a successful period until we have Longer and Bruce at the club !

Yea, I understand the PSD, but you still need to use a pick, and if you gave 25 & 41 to Brisbane, with what pick would you take Bruce? No way we'd use any of the first three, and all we'd have left is #95 and above which is far too high.

Still think we're better off with my idea tbh in making sure we get both 100%, rather than taking a chance on the PSD.

Even if we only did that swap with GWS, give them pick 25 for their 29 & Bruce, we win imo.
Then even if Brisbane don't give us Longer, we can try get him in the draft (if he goes into it), and then have one last pick if we want, rather than having no picks apart from #95 and above.

On the last line of a new article in the HS it says

"St Kilda remains hopeful of securing Brisbane’s Billy Longer in a three-way trade involving GWS before today’s deadline."

http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/stewar ... 6746249177

Would this mean we give 25 and 41 to Bris for Longer and they send back 34 which we offer to GWS for Bruce?

I would say it's more a case of the lions sending pick 25 on to get a player from GWS

Bris want something more than pick 25 for Bruce... giving them 41 and getting 34 back means they get less than pick 25!

GWS wont use 41....

I'd say GWS want something they can actually use for Bruce.... hmmmm

Id be concerned about Melbourne trumping us and picking up Bruce at #2 in the PSD before we can get to him. They've been down a long time and Roos is there on a million bucks or more a year because the board and fans are sick of them being s***. They have shown by shipping pick 2 to GWS for Tyson that they are prepared to do anything to get away from the foot of the ladder.

The only solution I can see is securing Bruce now via a trade. Melbourne don't probably have the cap space we do but would you pay $500k - $750k for a season just to pick up a kid with 12 games experience?

I have no idea what you are saying. The PSD has nothing to do with other draft. We are pick 3 in that draft. The obvious player we need to take in that draft is Bruce because GWS wont take him and melbourne probably dont need him. Longer would be taken by GWS and probably Melbourne.

To be fair, pick 2 for Tyson is a bit like saying pick 12 for Lee, which annoys us all. :)
