Eddie Betts - How many weeks?

Post: # 1333194Post Doctor Two »

thought Eddie's hit on an unsuspecting Nathan Wright was disgraceful. How many weeks from the MRP?

Well its high contact. High or severe impact depending if the jaw is broken and incidental contact if the heads clashed otherwise the middle one.

absolutely no idea given the inconsistency

i reckon he doesn't deserve any weeks. the bump was late but not high. there was a head clash which caused wright's injury. just part of footy, unfortunately.

Wasn't much in it really. An unfortunate footy collision.

Will depend on the extent of any injury. 1 - 3 weeks.

He deserves 2. How many he actually gets depends on how the eggs were prepared at the tribunal members breakfast

Clearly has to get 2 minimum, if Wright has a broken jaw,he'll get 4 down to 3 with an early plea

Should be at least a week.
Late
Both feet off the ground.
Player left the field because of it and could miss weeks.

If Wright has a broken jaw we are looking at 2 weeks minimum.

The attitude of the MRP seems to have been that if you choose to do something you wear whatever consequences flow. As South Oz Saint said, he did leave the ground. Whether it was accidental or not, if Wright has a broken jaw then 2 weeks for mine

Why are all commentators and some on here talking head clash. He clearly jumped and his shoulder smashed into Wrights head. Am I the only one who saw it that way? Where does the head clash come into it? There was none. 3 Weeks plus one for his embarrassing shorts.

IF Betts doesn't get weeks and kelly got 2 for not even making contact to goddard's head, then the MRP is plain faaaaarked.

What I don't understand is why the commentators called it a "shepherd"? Wright had disposed of the ball and had clearly stopped running. I would have called it a "late hit". But I admit that, having not grown up playing AFL, this is one of the aspects of the game I have never quite understood: a la Gia's hit on Kosi back in 2006. To me, an attack with elbow raised on a guy who hasn't got the ball and isn't looking towards you is contrary to any concept of sportsmanship. And the fact that it was the head rather than the raised elbow that made first contact (although I swear I saw Betts's elbow hit Wright's cheek) seems entirely irrelevant to me.

But many people I know who've played a lot of football tell me "it's all part of the game" and some of them tell me that the injury Kosi got from Gia was all Kosi's fault due to "lack of awareness" (apparently he should have had eyes in the back of his head).

I love footy, but this is an aspect of the game I've never been able to "get".

If he chooses to bump, and gets a player high as a result... He has a case to answer.

2 weeks

They've got their favourite players who excite the tv audience and they'll defend them to the hilt. Contrast the commentary last week when Kosi hit Elliot with the channel 7 replays and commentators crucifying the Kos with their judgement and conviction.

Unlike Kosi they were quick with their excuses and dismissive of any weeks for Eddie -"accidental head clash" - what a f***** joke!!! Betts was reckless and it was a late hit. Where was the footy you tools?? It's criminal

If that was a head clash...I will eat my hat. Late, left the ground, shoulder to head, caused the subbing of Wright. At least 2 IMO. Reality.....0.

If Nathan Wright's jaw is broken, he's got to get 3 - especially as Betts has priors.....he is a dog - I'm so disappointed for Wrighty - he's a young kid that's off to a flying start having been super impressive and getting better every game and then this scumbag cleans him up like that.....

I'm shattered for Wright if he has a broken jaw. He had clearly disposed of the ball & was slowing down, definitely not expecting to get cleaned up. Pretty shitty act by Betts.

Wad an obvious late hit after Wright had disposed of the ball. Has to be a report with 2 weeks minimum.

Was his feet on the ground?
If Wright has cracked his jaw he deserves 6 weeks - sniper scum.
