Should Nettlefold be sacked?

Post: # 1145989Post saintspremiers »

I've had enough of him.

Can't see him moving us forward.

The bloke seems lost and not up to the gig.

Thoughts?

Lol, think I made mine pretty clear in the Misson thread.

Yes he should walk, but will he? Highly doubtful!

He might end up last man standing!

The way things are going at the club - we may need a CEO as well ?

1.5 million = Loss
Senior Coach = Loss
Fitness manager = Loss
Assistant Coach = Loss
Worst location in AFL = Loss

Gees things are going well down there aren't they Mr NEDDLEFOLD.

MN was on the Board for a while before getting the CEO gig, so he is "entrenched" with the current Board.

If he goes, other "dominoes" will follow - it would be a big spill.

They will hang on to him, to protect their own Board positions IMO. They will call it "solidarity" in these tough times.

Although if things go the way they often seem to, the CEO will soon award himself a fat bonus....

At $700k per year, there is no way he is walking anywhere.

He'll have to be dragged out kicking and screaming.

He can't do the job, so there has to be an alternative.

Thank god the football club don't behave like most of the posters on this forum. This place is becoming an embarrassment.

It's all very well to wear the corporate tie, stick out your lantern jaw and spin until you're giddy. All very well to be be paid more than the coach, be paid in fact more than twice what the Prime Minister is paid, but where is the sense of corporate responsibility? Where is the accountability? The honesty to admit mistakes?
We are Nettlefold's electorate, his approval rating is in single figures and he should have the integrity to resign.

I'd be ecstatic to see him replaced. His performance on Footy Classified was a case in point of his incompetence.

Exactly! Staring blankly and repeating unconvincingly "the spirit and intent of the contract is that Ross Lyon will coach in 2012".

Well actually no. A fixed-term contract containing a notice period for its termination prior to the end of the term is not a fixed-term contract at all.

Wait for it though. He'll be announcing a triumph and spinning it in the next few days to equal his triumph of the coaching recruitment panel without a coach. We'll get a kick-back/handout from the AFL for losing squillions by being forced to play at Etihad.

It may even be nearly as much as two years of this dishonest superdud's salary.

Sad to say but unless he unveils a plan that makes the last 2 weeks make sense, then yes, IMO.

I'm not the type to want to sack everyone, but he has to take responsibility for this.

what the eff has he done wrong?
ok the cash loss wasnt great but everyone knows the stadium deal at etihad stinks.
he negotiated with ross's management in good faith. a coach going behind his own mgt back is unprecedented in the afl since the manager system. noone could have possibly anticipated that.

and sacking the CEO right now would really help because that would leave us with another vacancy ???

give it a rest .. if the CEO leaves now, no decent coach in the country will even consider coaching us. Like it or not, right now, every coaching candidate will look to our CEO for stability and support.

If you want to overthrow the CEO wait until all the other pieces are in place first.
