Jason Gram!!!!!!!!

Post: # 1094117Post murray 66 »

I feel time is up for Gram,in today's footy if you can't hit up targets on a regular basis even with/without pressure been applied and shirk the hard ball get you eventually get found out and become a liability to the team.
In his early days at the Lions one got the impression that under the Voss and Matthews regime if you weren't willing to put your head over the footy and take your turn to take one for the team you would not command a game or even get a opportunity.

We all respect the great Lions era and appreciate it would heve been a hard Team to break into but Gram was with them in the early days and would have had time to impress, but was let go by the Lions with minimal fuss.
Every week his skills are killing us..............................................

Gram showed what he is capable of in the '09 GF. He has never displayed that performance level again. It is there. He just has to want to bring it.

It's like his efforts to smother, chase, run are all half hearted at best. He's not one to throw himself into a pack and take risks. He stounds on the outside waiting, waiting, waiting.

Two years is a long time ago Fingers ,at the time we were one of the first clubs to iniate the press now every club is adopting this style of play and it is being done to us.Accurate kicking is now more important then ever and people who are suspect with the sherrin in general play are getting found out more then ever.
I would like to think that 150 game player also should no how to apply a tackle and being willing to sometimes put his head over the ball and take one for the team, instead of skirting packs and ranking up cheap possesions which usually eventuate into clangers.

The club originally got him for his half decent pace and booming long kick. Unfortunately he his not so quick anymore and his kick is constantly off target. In fact his kicking accuracy is appalling. He can still drop a 60 metre bomb, but where it's gonna land is anyones guess.

He's best days are past him. Worth keeping around for another year on a little less coin though.

I agree.

If Ball couldn't get a place in 09, why should Gram now? He is one that might actually have any currency in today's market. Ray and Goddard do his job much better. Liked him as a player in the last few years, but not a game changer anymore, more like a downhill skier.

We need players who feel honoured to wear the Guernsey and will do what they can to keep their place. If he's got 'it' and not showing 'it', that means this discription doesn't apply and his place should go to future prospects. ALl the players got the warning after last year's GF. He is one that didn't really get it.

We waited too long after '97 with the same old tryers on our list, and sunk down for years. Let's not make the same mistake here. He's not heart and soul, he's fringe.

List clogger along with a few others should be traded for picks would probably be the only 1 that still has a good reputation around the league that we'd want to off load..

And unfortunately the Lovett case is about to hit the headlines again. He'll be needed in court as will others. Just about puts the icing on the cake for this year.

I think everyone in the footy world has seen Gram's demise as a player, except for plenty on here with rose coloured glasses and RL.

Gram has been well past his use by date for some time, and I can't even see GWS showing too much interest in him.

Gram was a gun in the mid 2000's and a handy but inconsistent player in the few years following. He has now become a soft outside midfielder with little pace and shocking skills. If he put the effort in then maybe he would make up for his poor kicking, but he gives the least amount of effort of everyone on the field week in, week out. Should not play for us again.

Gee, there's not much love for Grammy on here, is there?

Great natural footballer, he's just seemed to have lost confidence along the way.

He hasn't been the same player since retruning from injury last year.

He is most definitely lacking in confidence. His football smarts have all gone to the wayside as well.

It'll be interesting to see where he's at by the time the season comes to a conclusuion.

seems really unfit and has been for ages

with the clean out that should happen IMO (max numbers to cut 7-9), he would survive as a depth player

He has the rest of the year to show what he has. :!:

Unfortunately, if he doesn't deliver, our days of "carrying" poor performers in the hope that they will improve, are gone. :!:

Seems he never recovered from that hip surgery i think it was...

Shadow of the player he was. Yet was always soft at the contest.

In modern footy its not pace as such you need - you need to be able to hit a target. Gram cant. How many times do we sit at games going "where is that ball going?"

Will that improve?

No.

In today's footy of you're not a good kick of the footy then you're skating on thin ice. Gram has been a terrible kick for a long time.

On top of this, he just doesn't look like he's working hard enough on the field. Perhaps his body is holding him back.
