Gamble is simply shocking at AFL level. The best he can offer is a flashy mark every few weeks and a cheap goal here and there. He showed earlier in the season exactly why he was delisted from Geelong and I have no idea why Ross thought he would be different when brought back.

I think he is worth retaining for another year, on the proviso that he needs to hit the weights bigtime.

Incredibly small frame for someone who has been in the system for so long.

Only played 28 games, I think he is trying to play Saints footy at least.

Gamble was far from their worst tonight. Guess people see certain names and always associate that with poor form. Or someone has a poor game and gets slammed, even though they were ok last time....

Lucky the coaches don't seem to judge from week to week.

As long as Gamble is playing forward, he won't put up enough stats to be popular here. He didn't do much wrong though. What was going on further up the ground was much more of concern.

Yeah nah pleasing positive

Tonight he was better than Riewoldt, Schneider and Milne. If you're going to bag him out, there will be more appropriate occasions.

His first half was ordinary, but thought he played quite well in the 2nd and created some oppotunities for us.
Done enough for another week.

Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

You put Gamble's stats from past two weeks next to Siposs's name and you would see 1000 different threads saying what a superstar this kid is and blah blah blah. Yet because its Gamble and not Siposs he gets automatically bagged. You just cant please people. The fact is in Gamble's past 2 games since being recalled he has done more then Siposs did in his 5 games statically. Is only 1 or 2 goals down on Siposs but in fewer games. Not sure what else people expect from the bloke.

Gamble isn't someone you look at stats to judge. You look at how he contests, how well he uses the ball when he gets it, his ability to apply pressure etc. He presented reasonably well tonight but he just loses so many contests and turns the ball over regularly due to a lack of composure, strength and skill.

If you go by stats then Gram was better than Steven tonight. Yet Gram was one of our absolute worst and Steven was the only mid who tried to take the game on.

We need to be planning our next side capable of having a crack at a premiership, and Gamble simply isn't good enough for that. Just because he might get 5 more touches than a kid right now doesn't mean he should get a spot.

His efficiency has been right up there both weeks. Theres alot more to stats then just disposals. He gets the ball a hell of a lot and doesnt turn it over as much as half the bloody team. But just because a kid did 2 or 3 nice things over 5 weeks doesnt mean he is a superstar and should play every week. He went missing more times then he actually did good things.

Apparently Ross thought Gram was pretty good tonight.

He looks disinterested and half paced but he actually seems to have Steven disorder, he looks slower than he is. He was running down to help in defence and getting back to his forward position last night. He is ahead of Siposs on development and while he may not have as much long term improvement, he is holding his spot ATM. Mini would be in for him and wouldn't have the scoring that Gamble has at present.

Exactly. He was ok last night, better the previous week. They're saying he doesn't contest - last week Gamble had 30 'pressure acts' - most for the match. His constant chasing the last 2 matches has created turnovers.

Definitely can't please some people, even if the coach gives his blessing, player x is still no good. Too easy to find faults and slam players.....

I'm with you, gringo. He isn't as bad as he looks.

But heck, he took a great mark, didn't he?
