Troy is developing a home for former saints

Matthew Robbins (ex-Geelong and Western Bulldogs) and Cayden Beetham (St Kilda) are the latest star signings, joining Hastings and Sorrento respectively.

Damien McCormack (Western Bulldogs) is at Pearcedale; Justin Sweeney (St Kilda) at Red Hill and Mark Chaffey (Richmond) has rejoined Rye.

Dromana has snared 20-year-old Steven Gaertner (St Kilda).

Sorrento, already with the Schwarze brothers, Troy (St Kilda) and Ben (Kangaroos), have also acquired ruckman Lenny Clark (Brisbane), although he will miss the start of the season because of a knee injury.
Beetham, taken with pick nine in the 1999 national draft, has joined his former Saints teammate Troy Schwarze at the Sorrento Sharks, whose odds of winning a second successive flag have shortened.

Schwarze said Beetham was a late addition at the Sharks.

"He was going to Perth but that all fell through and he needed a club to play at, so we got in contact," he said. "He looks fit and is keen, so it's all good

Have been wondering for a while, because I'm a physio student, what exactly did his hip injury involve? Does anyone know?

I was never actually sure
but a quick google found this
St.Kilda youngster Jarryd Allen has announced his retirement from AFL early this evening after suffering a long-term hip injury.

Allan fractured his left hip in a collision against Collingwood in last year’s semi-final win. Despite enormous amounts of rehabilitation the amount of cartilage lost has forced him to make the very difficult decision of hanging up his boots at only the age of 21.

Allan was recruited in the 2006 NAB AFL Draft with a fourth round selection from St.Kilda and pick number 59 overall. He was traded back to the club via on-trades from the Western Bulldogs and West Coast.

The cartilage in Allen's hip socket was shredded and after several months still hadn't re-grown sufficiently. Sad news for him, sad loss for us.

Justin Sweeney is down at Red Hill, and the rumour is that he might even attend training before round 1.
