I suspect it is not the presence but the awareness - where you are/where your mates are and where the opposition are. That 360 degree vision that seems to give Pendles so much time. What a player!

Re: Hunter Clark
One touch, dual sided, great evasive skills - what is missing? A sense of urgency perhaps, or maybe he is all slow twitch muscle fibre and has no speed? His kicking too often is hit or miss - tends to lay back on the kick, but why would we trade him? If he has shown no desire to work on his deficien...

Re: Where to now for Billings?
We are all delusional , we're Saints supporters after all but the last two posts go beyond delusion. Billings as an Elliott type when he can't kick a clutch goal, good disposal - how this myth continues Despite all evidence to the contrary ? Well we delude ourselves

Re: What does 2023 hold for these players at career crossroads?
who of Hill or Billings would you keep? Presuming interest in both. For me Hill stays, Billings goes. Mason Wood has shown up Billings as a wingman, Billings couldn't hit the clutch goal not the bullet pass to the lead so as a half forward adds little, his marking apparently claimed as a strength is...

Re: Skill level by foot
How many goals left begging from poor skills, and conceded as well. In the first half alone easily 4 potential goals could have been possible had the kick not gone straight to a Sydney player or over the head of the leading player. Dropped marks and fumbles also resulted in at least 3 goals against....

As anyone knows who has reviewed my posts I have made positive comments on the kid - but I was wrong. He has no composure, rarely hits a target even with a handball, and is clearly not a defender. Can he find a position? Who knows. Before the usual excuses watch ebery comtesy he is in amd those he s...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Weagles Round 19 2022
blocking frees in the ruck are a blight on the game- not quite the same order as the "Selwood " but not far off- most are paid because the bounce is not straight , heads towards the disadvantaged ruck who has to stand waiting whilst the opposing ruck barrels into them. Who wants to stand t...

He is the most over rated player on pur list. He would have to be caught holding the ball more than any other player in the comp. When he does kick it its a scrub kick the rately hits a target.
Worth repeating!

Re: The Indecisive Whirling Dervish
great thread title- I immediately thought it referred to Gresham rather than Hill. Why do they so often run themselves into trouble ? Hill rarely has a get out option running with him (watch the better teams- typically one or two shadowing the runner) which is not his fault. Gresham, if he had suppo...

Re: Precipitous decline of St Kilda (Part One)
If you are going to play slow then you need elite kicking - our players are more likely to turn it over. If you want to run the ball you need 2 or 3 guys with you as bail out as well as guys who can think their way thru - we rarely have more than one (usually Sinclair) and when a quick bail out hand...

106 goals in 149 games- not quite a goal per game BM. Look, he is a good player - no need to exaggerate beyond that. The stats do not support it.

Re: Jack Billings ahead of his 150th
enuf of the exaggerated respect- to have played 150 games at the top level means you are a good player. But that is all. Billings is not a good kick, though he looks like one as is true of many left footers. which may explain why this myth persists. He is not a reliable kick for goal nor a field kic...

To clarify_ Best from the top! i.e. Sinclair, 2nd best Marshall ......
All said and done Crouch was as instrumental as Steele and I guess it was a toss up.

Re: Delist or trade
the last couple of games has exposed a serious flaw in recruitment- we have few elite kicks - players that will take that risk to break the defensive structure facing them. So we kick wide to the pocket and close the ground around the ball carrier, rather than making the opposition defend the entire...

Re: INs & OUTs v Swans
Out? Long - aggression, despite many on here lauding the kamikaze style, does not cancel out dumb footy - a poor decision maker, constantly drags his man to the ball but remains unaccountable for him as the ball is cleared and is an unreliable kicking for goal. In for Long- Sharman who is to stay cl...

Was well beaten by Duncan - especially early But do do some brave acts and when he commits to a contest he only knows one way. Duncan had 2 contested possessions and 2 intercept, as a defender. How does that count as beating anyone? When we dominated field space and pressure acts, Duncan disappeare...
