Re: St.kilda's Coaching Selection Committee
Let's hope that Bassat's experience in recruitment, coupled with high integrity and a genuine passion for the Saints, ensures that due process in undertaken professionally and ethically. With his great football experience, I would have liked Rooey on the panel and his decision not to participate mak...

Re: Ratten on caretaker role
Experience and maturity showing through. Has a good grasp on where he, the players and the club are at.
Don't be surprised to see some new players being given an opportunity.
Best wishes Brett !

Thanks for the feedback. Interesting reading. With a depleted list, it's good to see a few guys are showing consistency.
Of course, it's a different level of football. Maybe a couple will get a shot at AFL games before the season ends - nothing to lose now.

Re: Appoint Ratten Now
Nicky Dal played under Brad Scott for a few years and would know the inner person, so-to-say. Nick is also very close to the Club and would be able to offer a good opinion.
If I look back on our previous "thorough, in-depth searches," we haven't done too well with our coaching appointments.

Jason rated Ross Lyon very highly as a great tactician and football strategy leader, something we have slipped up on since then.

Crowd - a good 33,500.
Margin - Saints by 10 points (Hopeful thinking).
A lot will depend on whether we come out ready to play in the first quarter. If the Bombers jump us, it's goodnight nurse

Sad News at such a young age. My young son stood next to Sidey in the rooms at Moorabbin one day and was over-awed at what a giant he was. Lots of pizzazz with Sidey. R.I.P.

Re: Inside with the saints
A very interesting insight into AFL football today. I always said that you needn't have brains to be a footballer - that's all changed today. The off-field intensity looks enormous, with strategies finely tuned. "Just kick-it" may be an over-rated call now. Can good strategies overcome she...

Re: Another article on the saints worth reading.
Interesting read. Obviously lots of work going in to revitalise the Club at all levels. As usual, the proof will be in the eating.
I am sure that we will see improvement, but how much, I am not sure. We still lack "star quality."

Re: Pick 47 - Matthew Parker
Looking at the Saints article and his highlights reel, at Pick 47, Matthew could be a very astute pick. There has been a much welcome and much needed lift in the quality of our Recruiting this year - about time. The professionalism in our off-field recruiting will also give us a great chance to move...

At this quiet time of year, if no positive response, try contacting the Club. They should know where their supporter groups are located.

Yes, quite a bit of all-round experience in Armo now, which will be valuable as a team resource.
It will be good if he can get back to full AFL fitness and contribute more than in the recent past.

Yes, a good opportunity to tell the Club how you think about their efforts. These opportunities don't come along often. My direct emails to the Club in the past have always gone without response. At least, we know that the overall Survey results will be aired. The 64 dollar question is, will it make...

Re: Adam Kingsley GONE // Ratten + Lade joining
The long term coaching staff have had a great opportunity to show their wares. Its now time to move them on. Clearly, the Saints game day style is vastly different (and worse) than most other clubs. Granted, a few good players would help. Now, at least the game style will get a good shake up and Ric...

Re: Ruckman
Pierce is very young and inexperienced, which showed against Goldstein yesterday. Pierce should have learned a lot about both ground positioning and ruckwork. I like his athleticism. He will improve a hell of a lot with more games. Longer is reasonably good in ruck duels, but far too slow, no markin...

Re: BJ Goddard not offered new contract by injectors
He could be a good fit for our current needs. If we are looking for an "experienced" campaigner to support the young guys, with his Saints background, he has a lot more to offer than other players likely to be available to us. - Experience & drive. - Strong on-field voice (would need t...

Re: Newnes response to 4 tackles
Just listened to the interview. Jack sounds as though he has no handle on what's happening and what needs to be done. Very flat and the sound of no direction about what needs to be done for himself or the team. You can't play AFL with that approach - no positives whatsoever going into Saturday's gam...

Re: pace is what it will be about this year
Yes, I had the same perception that pace and running was everything last night. Opening up the game was the key. That may well be a key factor as to why Dunstan was left out and Long came in. "Delivery" is still the major factor to success in my view. If you kick well to position, you cont...

Re: AFLX does it prove anything?
From a very general perspective, I was very disappointed with the overall skills of our players, especially kicking.
It has been a known serious team problem and I was disappointed with the lack of overall improvement. Not a great picture, looking forward.
