Re: Round 3 1985 was worse

Apologies Sainternist I thought you meant 1979 - Yes Gellie could have been anything. The way coaching jobs seem to go now unless you are an assistant at one of the clubs you haven't really got a look in. Fitzy was a champion school boy - centre Half back or forward in the Teal cup team.

Re: Round 3 1985 was worse

Sainternist I think Patterson was coaching at the time - Graeme Gellie is one of the great tragedies for us - he won the B&F in his first year and then did a knee and was basically lost to the game. Was picked whenever he was right but was never the same. Came down from Derrinallum via one of th...

Re: Membership renewal (2014)

I sign up every year - next season will be the 10th that I have been away - live in hope of returning to Aust one day and being able to see the Saints win.

Re: Round 3 1985 was worse

1979 against the Pies was worse - 30 odd goals to 3 - the only good thing that day was big Donny Discher sitting Peter Moore on his bum and tapping Wright as well - cost him weeks.

Re: Kosi,s still a legend!!

Agree with the OP. I had a little bit to do with Kosi and the others when he was first drafted and for the next couple of years after - he was the bloke selected by the club to organize those drafted with him and then to look after those drafted in the next couple of years. Always has been a quality...

Re: We have a genuine good un.

Glad to read that there is some talent coming through. Just a question for those who get to watch the games, live or on T.V., has ARMO taken the next step? Seems like he started the first few games on fire and then had a couple of quite weeks. Sounded as if SW put the challenge to him through the we...

BigMart very interested in your thoughts on Archer - can he take a step up and perhaps hold down a key forward role?

Re: So where are we at

Does our forward line function well enough as it is? A while ago we had the likes of G-Train and Hamill there - they attracted the best 2 defenders leaving Nick and Kosi with the lesser lights. Now they get the best and the oposition really only have to worry about Stanley - who is just starting to ...

Similarities - Our young players and who?

After a little bit of help, just to try and get a picture in my mind. If you were to try and describe our young players are there any past or present players that they remind you of or they are similiar too? I haven't seen a game, live or on T.V. since the beginning of 2005 so I struggle a bit with ...

You might be right - the Bulldogs have a lot of run through the middle and Polo may be needed to shut down one of them.

I left Aus in 2005 - I basically spend all my time at sea so really I have used Sainsational to keep in touch with what is going on since then. Can be a bit of a pain sometimes because the internet feed is so slow but at least it is something and definately better than nothing.

Thanks to all.

Early 60's. My Mum was Captain Coach of a netball team in Sale called the Saints. Dad worked all w/ends so we kids all went to the netball. Just got used to barracking for a team called the Saints and it carried over. We used to watch the replay at night on the B&W with Dad when he got home and ...

1997 we should have won. Stitching up North at night at the "G" was just great. Pity we could not go all the way, we deserved too.

Full back is a hard position to hold down - we now have to find someone who can handle the monsters like Brown or Cloke and also take care of the quicker types as well.

Dawson took Buddy when we played the Hawks I think and he really is quick.

Is Archer to be used as a ruckman?

I would think that they would promote on a needs basis - so perhaps we won't know anything until after the NAB Cup.
