Re: Are St Kilda the AFL's Next Moneyball Team?

it's quite likely that a lot of players will be unable to play this season because of COVID. This will be an advantage to those clubs with real depth.

Our list may be a bit 'light on' A Grade players, but I feel we do have quite good depth this season.

Re: What's your level of Optimism for 2022?

Hoping for top 6 or even top 4, and if our good players can get on the park and in good form......I can dream

Port Adelaide and Brisbane are beatable, we can give the dogs a run for their money, and if the stars align we can challenge Melbourne.

Took one of the greatest marks I’ve seen against the Demons - over Hugh Brummell if my memory is correct? Wasn't at that game, but I recall seeing that mark on TV, I reckon it was a channel 9 show hosted by Tony Charlton and I reckon it was about 1965-1966. Does anybody point me to a video clip, my...

Reckon Jack Peris would do well in the 200m time trial, he may be the early favorite for the Grand Final sprint

Re: Round 1 2022

3 - 7 for round one in last 10 seasons, knocking off GWS last year was a great start to an ultimately disappointing first half season. Saints may go in favourites but don't under estimate Collingwood's intense desire to give their new coach (and board) a win first up - it will certainly give us a g...

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. It's easy to say we should have drafted Bontempelli ahead of Billings....etc Now is the time for us keyboard worriers to go on record with our views on this selection. Who should we have drafted? I've been of the view that we should take a classy midfielder with pace ...

Re: Junction Oval in funding crisis.

If the zjunction in StKilda was a viable option, Hawthorn would have it by now. If Hawthorn looked to the pearls of wisdom posted in this thread, and the grey matter driving them, it would immediately abandon Dingley and AFL Park and return to Glenferrie Oval. And get rid of the Hawks and become th...

Re: What you see is what we have - Best 22

I keep saying it Gresham is seen by Ratten as an onballer more so than forward Gresham is good value at the center bounce, but probably doesn't have the tank for full time midfield. Ryder is a bit the same, perhaps they can both take the center bounce then go forward, where they are both very dange...

Re: Dirty Laundry - Dunstan

I'm unashamed to be a big supporter of Luke Dunstan. He received 2nd highest Brownlow votes, and I believe 2nd highest votes on Saintsational for a reason. He's a tough inside mid, super courageous and has football smarts. Winning the hard contested ball is about the most important skill in football...

Well… whoever he was, he didn’t make it to the B&F’s top 10!
It's pretty clear that Rattan's not a fan......a bit of a slur on our coaching staff really.

Re: Nathan Kreuger?

Interesting about Dunstan. I could have sworn I saw it reported he won’t be offered a new contract. Good if he stays. I rate him. He’s a good, strong inside mid. Perhaps Ratts thinks we have a surfeit of this type of player and prefers others if fit. Wouldn’t be surprised if he picks up a few Brown...

Both the Bont & Jack Macrae were in my Supercoach team so I watched both of them closely, Macrae scored heavily in most games and I wouldn't be surprised if he polled more votes that Bontempelli.

Costa, Cook and Thompson transformed Geelong at all levels and deserved the remarkable success that followed. Absolutely no doubt.
Plus Balme coming in was the final missing piece in the puzzle.
Plus Dean Robinson, the weapon.

Perhaps a straight swap for Luke Dunstan, he's an ideal successor for Selwood.
