The 9 players we move on??

Post: # 1829215Post cwrcyn »

Okay, so if the five players w'ere chasing come in, and we add Wilkie to the main list, it means we have to move on 9 players. So....who are they?

Armitage - done
Longer - done
Steven - pretty much gone
Bruce - most likely gone (unfortunately)
Brown - maybe ( I hope not)
Acres - a fair chance in the Hill deal. He definitely wants to go back to WA
Rice - probably
Newnes - who knows?
White - probably...seems out of favour

The other one is McCartin...poor bugger...it's a mystery as to what the club will do with him

Nearest to the pin??

That’s about right... except maybe White and Newnes

They offered Newnes a new deal and White had a good season in the lower level.

McKenzie trade?

Keep Acres.

Rowe surely is gone.

McCartin surely has to go, just taking up a spot on the list at this point.

Lonie and McKenzie have to be on that list, no one has then in our best 22.
I’d rather have Acres and Brown everyday of the week.

If we get Butler then one of Lonie, Parker, Long or Kent goes (I assume Young is a rookie and should go anyway).

Young is not a rookie

Lonie is definitely going to be on the list, and rightly so.

In the first month of the season till he injured his knee Lonie was not only in our top 22 but more like out top 5.

Yeh I'm also curious about this. He has seemed pretty settled with the saints/in Melbourne for years now. It seems more like the saints looking to get something for a player that they see as expendable.

I reckon Kent will be currently working overtime on his foot skills and Young would know he's hanging on by a thread.

Young is not a rookie, I guess he was on a two year contract as he was picked up in the National draft.

Rowe was also on the main list but came in via a different mechanism so no two year contract. He should have been included in the list at the top of the page.

Rookies are/were Joyce, Pierce, Wilkie, Alabakis, Langlands, Mayo.

Joyce has been there for a while. Is there still a time limit for the rookie list and does it apply to International recruits?

On Trade day last night John Ralph said that he definitely didn’t want to go and his manager said he will stay with the Saints.

Nah,

Lonie’s a whipping boy!

Because he’s small, he cannot be good... surely!!!

Supporters must have hated the back end of 2018 and start of 2019 when he was outstanding as a small forward!!!

As soon as he makes one mistake... look out!

Tell you one thing, he is a better performer than Acres who is supposed to be good because he’s 190

Lonie is good at attracting an umpires attention and putting himself in the right positions to gain free kicks. He works hard and he's quick so has an advantage when it comes to pressure acts. Lonie is also energetic and a livewire so that has to be good for team morale, but...

Blake Acres can play multiple positions. Blake gives a coach the versatility to make changes during a game. Blake has the size to physically hurt the opposition. Blake is very good in a 1 on 1 contested mark situation against KP defenders.

The upside and potential for Acres is why I'd rate him a lot, lot higher than Jack. I have consistently stated that I believe Richo didn't know how to get the best out of the Blakenator

Lonie is a walk up start to our best 22.

People forget how we went off the rails and our forward line ceased to function when Lonie got injured. He's going nowhere.
