Former St Kilda star and Richmond coach Danny Frawley has died in a car crash west of Melbourne.
He was 56.

He also represented Victoria at State of Origin level from 1987 to 1994.
Frawley later became head coach of Richmond in 2000 and led the Tigers to a preliminary final appearance the following season.
Frawley finished up as Richmond coach in 2004 after the club managed to win just four matches during a season in which they finished bottom on the ladder.

"He was a larger-than-life character, a generous and warm personality, and a favourite son who has left an indelible mark on St Kilda," he said in a statement.

His former Saints teammate Nathan Burke told the ABC he was a "legend of the club".
"There isn't an element of this great game that Danny didn't touch and have a positive influence over, so I think the whole football community will be feeling this one."
Burke said he would remember Frawley's "boundless enthusiasm".
"Everything he did, he did at 100 per cent. So I'll probably miss that the most."
Frawley spoke publicly about struggles with his mental health in recent years, telling the Herald Sun in 2017 he suffered from clinical depression.
He said he was "not embarrassed by it any more" and wanted to use his experiences to help others.
'He was simply everyone's mate'
Foxtel chief executive Patrick Delany and Fox Sports head Peter Campbell said in a statement the television station had "lost one of its own".
"[He was] a leader, a man of incredible passion, insight and love for his family and for his game, AFL," the statement said.
"Our deepest love and wishes go to wife Anita and their three daughters Chelsea, Danielle, and Keeley and to his many teammates, both in front and behind the camera.
"It is a tragic time for all."

Frawley's colleagues at radio station SEN, where he worked for many years, said they were "shocked and saddened" to learn of his death.
"Danny was simply loved. A true Australian character; a brilliant entertainer; a selfless father, husband and friend," Pacific Star Network managing director Craig Hutchison said in a statement.
"He epitomised the spirit of the St Kilda football club and his football legacy as a player, coach, administrator and media performer is enormous.
"But his sense of community and the way he inspired others will be forever remembered.
"Like the entire football world, and the broader Victorian community, we are stunned and shattered at this extraordinary loss.
"He was simply everyone's mate."

To his family I express my sincere condolences I can't even imagine what they are going through at the moment but he was a true Saint & I hope they can take some solace knowing that he has touched not only the hearts of saints fans but the whole AFL community as a whole & he was loved universally. He bled rw&b.
His passion and love for the club was unsurpassed.
He was the glue behind our 80s and 90s teams.
Anyone who thought they were doing well holding things together at TB's funeral just gave up when Danny made his mega-emotional address.
It was Danny who had worked soo incredibly hard to get Plugger back in the fold to be inducted in our HoF and attend the HoF dinner. Danny was so pleased and emotional at the occassion that he was unable to finish his welcome speech.
There was nothing fake about Danny.
He personified loyalty and dedication and what it means to be a Sainter.
He IS the spirit of the StKilda footy club.
He will ALWAYS be our Captain.
RIP Spud.

Absolutely shattered by the news.
Loved him as a player and leader of our club
He was probably the first captain I looked at as a true leader of the club since I started supporting them in the early 70s.
My wife (who is not a footy head like me) ran into him once and spoke to him a few years ago when he was coach of Richmond.
She said he was a true gentleman and seemed like a genuinely nice guy.
My thoughts go out to his family
Loved him as a player and leader of our club
He was probably the first captain I looked at as a true leader of the club since I started supporting them in the early 70s.

R.I.P. Danny Frawley
We are heartbroken because he was our heart.
Losing him takes part of our collective and individual souls as St Kilda people.
He embodied everything of our club’s motto, and never asked for anything in return.
All we can do now is honour him.
Part of that is doing what he would want us to do. Look out for each other.

I don’t know if this will make sense, but it feels like this huge intangible hole has been made today - Spud WAS St.Kilda in the media. He carried the torch for us.
It’s like part of the club died today.
Nick Riewoldt feels like the only man that could plug this hole by carrying the club on his shoulders now, not only at this time, but going forward too.
And I can’t help but feel for Brett Ratten today too and no doubt the horrific memories it would be bringing up for him personally as well.
Just a horrid day. Unashamedly cried when I got home from work where no one would understand.
