The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Must be disappointing for those umps.
So near and yet so far.
Just one more free could have got GC home.

Lonie tries to keep ball in, gets pinged.
I've seen much worse get nothing, several times a game.

That free against Steven when he was off balance and tried to handball but it went out was an absolute joke.

You can complain about umpires but you're ignoring the elephant in the room.

Alan Richardson.

Yet again, it was the inconsistency.

And with the 3 in a row that lead to a goal in the last, the whole of level 2 did its collective ‘nana.

Do you expect someone else to come in and wave a magic wand?
Perhaps we need Harry Potter!

I'd prefer Lenny Hayes as senior coach!

He can't go out there a kick the ball for us...the umpires and the players themselves completely taking our foot off the pedal for most of the 1st, all of the 3rd, and most of the 4th, made an easy 6 goal victory a non-eventful one point victory.

We were polaxed in the middle for basically the whole game. Witts gave Pierce a lesson and Ross/Dunstan were terrible. I don't know what that has to do with coaching?

Centre clearances are even more critical with the new Rules, yet we still managed to win the game.

The half shade, half bright sun and idiot unpiring didn't help either.

Acres, Clarke, Marshall and Brown will probably be in next week and we'll be a lot better.

And hopefully the bloody roof will be closed.

Surely there comes a point when you have to ask, why is the differential always seemingly so big against us?

And do ppl really think it’s due to corruption?

Yes they do (is CURLY on holiday?)

It's probably a combination of technique and reputation IMO. Corruption being way down the list of probable reasons.

Easy target. AFL need it’s big clubs winning and it’s franchise teams to be successful. Who in the media will defend StKilda for getting reamed?

You can’t defend a extra 10 frees in a 1 point game.

Team selection is an important part of coaching I would have thought!

Marshall and Clarke would have improved things for starters.

Just sayin but half way through the second quarter the free kick count was 4 us 5 them. We were starting to get on top. Then they received 4 frees in a row to goal. We must be the most undisciplined team in the comp to then give away another 23 in 2.5 quarters of football.

Again Just Sayin

I said this after the last practice match against the 'Dogs.
AR needs to do a Clarko and invite the head of the umpires out for a coffee - make it a nice morning tea - and then rock up with his laptop and some of the examples which need clarifying.
I am not going to complain about the umpiring today because we won, but I believe that we must be doing some things extremely wrong and our technique with spoiling, flying for marks, trying to keep the ball in, etc.
I know Hawthorn had a senior, or head of umpiring with them playing a simulated match on the Gold Coast recently. I think the players must be getting coached to play the game with poor technique, or at least not playing within the laws of the game with the number of frees paid against us regularly and it is the coach's responsibility to get this right.

Today's umpires were bloody dismal. I couldn't understand more than half of the free kicks they plucked out for GCS. Just obfuscating all afternoon.
