Bailey Rice.

Post: # 1732756Post bigred »

Thought he could do with his own thread.

Has been good. Very composed and uses it well.

Seems to have adapted to the pace of the seniors very quickly.

He looks like he's built for AFL and he looks comfortable at the level. Keep it up Ricey.

Copped a nasty kick to the shin (no kicking in danger free - surprise surprise!!).

Came back on and continued to do good things.

So glad he chose us instead of The Cheating Bluebaggers.

He has done fairly well since his debut. Looks a tough type, could do with a dash of speed but he is definetly suited in the backline

Yep. Good player, kick, decision maker and composed. What we need down back going forward.

Can't believe people had a go at him after that stupid kids park footy in AFLX. Apparantly he was fat, unfit, slow and not up to AFL standard. Lol. Where are those critics now? MIA!

Gets wallopped in marking contests, is the only issue. But the bigger issue really, is why his teammates allow him to get isolated one on one against big guys!

I really like him. Seems like he belongs out there.

Very happy to admit that I was totally wrong about Bailey. I watched him a lot at Sandy and he didnt look up to it, but he is looking like a very capable defender, he is very strong in the core and doesnt get beaten often in a one on one contest. His only small flaw is that he sometimes gets caught ball watching and loses his direct opponent, but I think this will improve with experience.
He has improved out of sight over the last 12 months, but that cant be right because apparently we cant develop players at St Kilda

Big tick for me.
White, Coffield, Austin also.
Hopefully Robbo gets back and add young Paton to the mix eventually and we have a very very good young defence lead by Carlise.
My future back six
Paton Austin White
Webster/Robbo Carlise Rice/Coffield

Robbo and Webster alternate and get a run on a wing during games also. Coffield rotates through back and midfield as his tank improves.

It took a long time for him to get close to a game because he did look average at Sandy when i saw him... at aflx he was ordinary and he did look fat and slow he was way off it... I took a train with his old man after the game and he was dirty on how he played.
Wrapped he has turned it around he looks quite comfortable at the level but another yard of pace would be handy bit I am bullish after last two weeks and yes I was cery concerned what i saw up until his inclusion so very happy.

I also commented on him at AFLX (though I did not and would not ever call a player "fat"), and if you actually saw him which I suspect those who are having a go now did not, you would understand the comments. He looked way off it.

Full credit though, he looks like a solid player. I am happy to admit I was incorrect, or at least early in my assessment.

Just to note that Bailey is 21, not 18, so he should be equipped to have a greater impact than a teenager. He's less than a year younger than McCartin.

With that said, he looks like a decent prospect. Hopefully he's a quick learner.

He is not fat. Just looks like he has a big backside. Hasn't hurt the career of Serena Williams. Nothing wrong with big strong glutes.

Damn RIGHT! I’m LOVING the sight of a chunky, solid, composed, nuggety hard little sod in our backline!
