Was he offered a 'discount' of 1 game if he accepted the finding?
If not then he has nothing to lose by taking it to the tribunal.
I'd be curious to know/understand how a head-high bump, or a knee to the head of a player on his hands and knees can be an 'accident'
but a forearm hit to the head in the act of spoiling a mark can be deemed 'careless'.

Things seemed clearer to me when no explanation was given by the MRO - it was much easier then to just put it down to 'chooklotto'.

Now we get weekly explanations which seem to be at odds with what was determined on previous occasions?

Must take it to the tribunal using the Fyfe incident as a precedent. Bet the reason that it really matters who you are and who you play for is the main factor in determining the penalty will never be admitted.
If as I suspect the penalty will stand we have a chance to look at Joyce or Goddard

How is the result of the action any different to what Fyfe did TO Carlisle?
How is the intent any different to what Fyfe did TO Carlisle?
How is the impact any different to what Fyfe did TO Carlisle?
Wasn't Reiwoldt in doubt this week due to a pre-existing concussion doubt?

The difference:-
Carlisle is NOT a Brownlow favourite.
St Kilda will bring their own Vaseline.

This is the circuit breaker we have all been waiting for. St Kilda grow a pair and fight this to the high court if necessary!

We didn't with Baker.
We didn't do anything re Marc Murphy.
If we don't re Carlisle we are just going to continue to be considered a nothing club standing for nothing and taking a knee when we should be standing to fight!

Please explain to those who make the decisions what 'Strength through Loyalty' means!

Fight this or hold the door open for the players to leave because they feel disenfranchised.

Fight this because it is the right thing to do.

yeah, we bent over and took it with the Marc Murphy debacle,
rather than the club standing up on behalf of its players.
We need to be strong and back our players.
How can the club expect loyalty FROM the players,
when it shows no friggin loyalty TO the players?

if you watch that 2004 highlights vid Baker gets reported vs richmond for punching kane - GT defended him and the club argued for him in a much worse more clear incident. That's what clubs should do - back their players - like family - strength through loyalty. treat them like like disposable employees and that's what you'll end up with.

Let me preface this by saying I am not a lawyer, but surely if Jake was suspended because Riewoldt was concussed before he hit the ground, then they need to review the Burton 'bump' and the Fyfe accidental knee.

And repeating that I am not a lawyer, surely, the logical progression of reviewing an incident has to be:
1. Was there an action to be reviewed?
2. What was the intent?
3. Is the intent reportable?
4. What was the reulst of the action?

You CANNOT reverse 4 and 2 and hope to get any logical outcome.
For mine the Mason Cox bump was one of the most horrific actions of the weekend as it was one that could have had the most impact.

Mason Cox failed on the first three of the above considerations and should only be mitigated by the fourth. Jakes actions do not even get past point 2.

Oh well, I’m proud of the club for backing our man.

As for Christian, I remember Plugger giving him an absolute mauling one day in 1987. He cut a forlorn figure in front of a rabid Moorabbin crowd as Lockett kicked 10.5 or similar.

I don’t think he liked us much after that.

The plus is it gives an opportunity to Goddard, who reportedly was good for Sandi

Well Christian is a f****** moron.

I wish Con was back for this one.

At least we fought it - sadly the media can’t give a rats tossbag about St Kilda and won’t say much about the gross injustice.

Make sure you look after the club with 95,000 members

Bring me a massive tub of lube.

Why would you want Con back for this one - he would just say it was our inept admin that stuffed up the appeal - probably even blame Parkey for being a Pollyanna for thinking Carlisle would get off.

What a load

AFL legal counsel Jeff Gleeson said Carlisle had approached the contest at "a fair sprint" and had swung his arm in a careless attempt to spoil, but conceded it was "not a full roundhouse action by any measure".

So he approached a marking contest with a sprint? Oh no...

How can it be a reckless attempt when he took off the ground before the ball had made it to Riewoldt?

More BS inconsistency from the afl.

Someone who is an expert in human bio-dynamics may question how a swinging arm got through a set of outstretched arm to reach the head of the opposition. Jacks arms were up in the attempt to mark the ball - so Jakes must have been 'threaded' between them to reach for the ball and impact the head.

If someone can tell me how to swing a 'fist' in a 'not full round house' and penetrate through an upstretched arm, I want to know so that I can train boxers to do it, then when they are protecting their head, my man will still be able to knock them out!!!

There is no way there was any sideways swing.

Free Carlisle!!!!!!!

The AFL tribunal earlier this year let Selwood off a striking charge because Joel was upset when his brother Scott got shirt fronted by Lindsay Thomas. That was the gist of the defense by Geelong when they clallenged wasn't it?

FFS, Jake has been very, very, very upset for the last 6 weeks that St Kilda are playing crap football. That would have been a better defense than the one the club put up tonight. Just go in there and baffle them with bs because fairness and precedence has nothing to do with outcomes

Who the hell is this Dermot Damn?

Didn't use the Rance or Caddy hits as evidence

He did use the Ziebell on Newnes hit which Ziebell got one week for a roundhouse fist to the jaw in marking contest which looked far worse

Either way it seems because Princess Jackie was "supposedly" knocked out the actual impact was graded higher even though footage of other incidents look far more severe in terms of striking

Looks like Carlisle can thank Princess Jackie and his suspect chin - Christ he isn't going to miss a week or any training for that matter

Saints once again get bent over

Don't like seeing our players suspended, but jeez when I saw it, I thought it was a sloppy, dumb move by Jake and I expected him to be rubbed out. Let's move on with this complete waste of a season.

@AFL_PKeane

Jack Steele can accept $1000 sanction, careless contact umpire A Gianfagna.
Shane Savage, Will Hayward can each accept $1500 sanction, misconduct against each other.
