Lack of leadership

Post: # 1657283Post devil saint »

Can't help but think we lacked some leadership in the last twenty mins to steer the ship and motivate the boys to stay in it. Stating the obvious but wish Roo was out there. There was very little composure and we just let ourselves be dominated with no one to instill any confidence.

I am more upset at the complete lack of intensity last week.
If we had shown the intensity we displayed tonight last week we would at least be 1-1 instead of 0-2.

Just not good enough, still.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

I think we blew it tonight

We were outplayed last week

This week we were the better team, never had the structure, composure, skill to finish off

On player doesn't make much of a leadership difference... he can't kick it to himself

I'm gutted we didn't win, but WAY better tonight. I'd pegged anything less than a 50 point loss an improvement.

I'm not suggesting we should set those kind of standards, BTW, but after last week I expected another house of pain shellacking.

Let's not forget they belted us by 102 points over there last season. We should have won tonight. Our kicking for goal was dreadful and I think the free kick count was 23-8 against.

A lot to be proud of really, even though I'm bitterly disappointed we didn't get the points

Proud of not losing by a heap and trying hard???

Should that be an expectation???

Pride should be reserved for exceeding expectation

Competitiveness should be non negotiable

But if you change the free kick count by 30 in our favour and it becomes 23-8 in our favour - we win .... players can't be blamed for the unfortunate influence of the umps

No, to win is the expectation of course, particularly when you have outplayed your opponent most of the match.

They gave it everything but we're let down by kicking for goal and, let's be honest here, some awful home town decisions.

Newnes is in the leadership group and dominated the field in one stat. Clangers. He had 8 of them.

Weller and Savage look promising but then go missing.

Missed targets a lot in the last quarter. The fatigue was obvious, though. The Acres trunover in the middle from a terrible short kick was really costly. WC pulled some goals out of their arses in the second half, with a few blind kicks landing on team mates' chests. Nothing we could do about that. Giles will never kick a goal like that for the rest of his life. Oh, and Kennedy's push on Brown should have seen the ball going our way, not through their goal. WC coach had the cheek to say they won three of the four quarters.
