Sinclair wins time trial

Post: # 1645543Post Vazelos »

Jack Sinclair has won today's time trial.
This is a boy not known for his tank, that's a great result.
The boy has shown he has put his head down after this years disappointing season & that is what you want to see.

It may be years 1-4.

The times ran are confidential according to Saints Facebook. I didn't know it was that sensitive.

You may be right there which tempers it a little bit but to beat guys like Mc Kenzie and Acres who ewre playing in the first 22 late last year & doing well in the mid field shows thats an impressive performance nevertheless.

I really hope he makes it.

Impresses me very much and I would like to see him given game time next year.

He looks like a boy....regardless it's fantastic to see he's obviously made an effort to present in the best possible condition...shows he's keen to make an impact this year....just fantastic..

I wouldn't get too excited. Someone had to win.

We don't know if they were all treacle slow or at Olympic standard.

Great to hear that Jack isn't taking his AFL career for granted. This is a kid that I believe can be an integral part of our next finals campaigns

Ok sorry...he's not a goat

Despite a disappointing 2016 I think Sinclair will be best 22 for a long time. He has great skills, reads the drop of the ball brilliantly and has ice running through his veins (read, he doesn't choke under pressure). I think he'll be an excellent mid/forward good for 18 disposals and 1.5 goals per game. His tank was probably the main thing holding him back in 2016 so it's great to hear that he had the best 3k results of any player with less than 5 years in the AFL system.

Bit hard to compare times as they were running primarily on a gravel track ( not a running track as in Casey ). One thing I can bring is that the median time of all runners was more encouraging than last years. They've come back in good nick as you would expect. Jack B. Is injury free with no shin soreness ( everyone touch wood!!)

agreed. He has clearly done some work on what is perceived as a weakness.

Also good to see Billings come in at 7th place.. I wonder if the pair of them did some work together

It's great to hear Acres was in the top 5, hopefully he continues to build on his tank so he can spend more time playing through the middle.

The 25-year-old also had hip surgery earlier this year and remains on the rehab path but Saints forward Tim Membrey said Carlisle was itching to get involved.

“I’ve been coming in a little bit over the break and every time I’ve been in here, he’s been in here as well. It’s good to have Jake back among all the fellas,” Membrey said as the St Kilda first to fourth-year players began their pre-season.

Can someone help me?

How come most(all) teams start training now with their 1-4 year players (or whatever) but the national draft doesn't occur for nearly another 3 weeks and yet a kid drafted sometimes plays in the first game of the year despite not being as fit as all the players in the team? If that is the case then why doesn't everyone start training after the national draft?

If the newbie is fit enough to play despite starting training at the start of December then surely that is enough time to get the more experienced players fit.

Thought I read somewhere that Acres parents (one or both) were middle distance runners ?

Pleased for Jack Sinclair, looks all class when he gets the ball. Sinclair, Lonie, Gresham, and Minch all fighting it out for that small forward spot who then runs through the middle occasionally.

I am fairly sure I asked this exact question this time last year as I was also scratching my head on this.

My conclusion (unconfirmed) is that draftees are year 0.

Year 0 = draftees
First year = Gresh, O'Kearney, Coughlan, Rice, White
2nd year = Paddy, Goddard, DMac, Lonie, Sinclair
3rd year = Acres, Billings, Dunstan
4th year = Nate Wright, Pierce, Membrey.

I believe Sinclair was 10:16, D-Mac 10:21. Can't remember the others off the top of my head. There was also a fair bit of headwind!

He is very skilled I rate him highly!!
Would love him running through mid and being a forward pocket.
Weller Bruce Sinclair
Lonie McCartin Membrey

Dont forget Lonie with those little legs to run like that is a great effort.

Hopefully luke dunstan uses this off season to work on running. If he can build a tank and get a little quicker hed dominate such a great football brain and skill.

I think Gresham will be a midfielder and likely to be elite in 1 to 2 years.
