Could the Impossible be possible?

Post: # 1640944Post damienc »

Look it's that time of year. The time of year when rumours rain down like confetti at a wedding.

Some turn out to be true some are complete BS. But there is a rumour I particularly like.

I have no idea if it's true. Not even going there. I just like it because a part of me would like it to be possible, and thinks it could, even if it appears to be impossible.

It involves Nat Fyfe. Now I know he has already garnered considerable traction on this forum.

But I am going to make a bold prediction of my own. I don't think Nat Fyfe will be at the Dockers in 2018.

Fyfe has ruled out any move in 2017. But has said that he will keep his options open when his contract expires at the end of 2017.

Keeping his options open can be roughly translated to mean if things haven't improved at the club, and we are not marching towards a premiership, I am out of here.

Even the coach has said as much about Fyfe. I reckon Feo is a basket case. I think the coach is a major part of the problem and that is not going to change. Lyon is no Richo. He is not capable of making a phoenix rise from the ashes IMO. By the end of 2017 Fyfe will have had enough. Loyalties aside he will want to leave. Freo is going nowhere fast. Just my opinion.

Fyfe has been in Melbourne for Grand Final week. The rumour is he toured every club and was really impressed with three: Carlton, Hawthorn and St Kilda.

Nat Fyfe apart from being a supremely talented player is also intelligent. He would have been impressed with Richo and how he goes about it. He would have been impressed with the club's culture.

He can see very clearly where we are heading. He would like the blend of old heads and young legs.

I can see him playing for the Saints and playing in our premiership side. This is not wishful thinking. I can truly see it happening.

Let's see if I am right in a year's time.

Love to get him on board so long as we don't have to offload any of our up-and-comers to do so.

Fyfe was drinking with Ross Lyon in a Fitzroy pub Grand Final eve so their relationship looks strong socially.

They weren't drinking. Ross was talking and Nathan was asleep as a result.

Freo really need a bounce back this year. If they struggle again then morale is going to be rock bottom and its not going to be a nice club to be at. Fyfe is an ambitious bastard will be looking where else he can win a premiership. Ross will be taking on some guys who could be a bit of a handful - Hill, McCArthy. His man-management in that area hasn't been great. He's not really a builder of men, more one that squeezes them hard to get every bit of juice out of them and if they are a bit fragile it could end disastrously.

Hmmm....that old saying 'Don't put all your eggs in one basket' comes to mind. Fyfe? No thanks. Build a list rather than trying to land the big fish.

I imagine Fyfe was buying all the drinks, Lyon has short arms and deep pockets, after losing life savings and having to move into parents' place- in a granny flat with his missus + 4 kids!
It was probably a farewell drink

This. Let's see how he recovers from a broken leg and then assess.

If you want to keep laughing at Lyon's expense, have a look at his speech at Freo's b&f

Not sure if he's emotional over players leaving or the realisation that the Dockers will take about 5 years to rebuild. Maybe he's had a meltdown. Might be time to admit that he's not suited to being a 'career coach'

He mentions the Bulldogs and reckons that they are an example that a team can quickly rebound...good one Ross. After they sack you and Fyfe walks out, you never know
