Couldn't agree more. To think so people wanted him traded as apart of the Carlisle deal. Well done Seb and keep it up.

Seb has been fantastic all year, although there will be plenty on here who will continue to knock him rather than say they made a mistake.
The kid will be in our midfield for the next 10yrs

He is who he is, just don't expect him to be his cuz. Great progress this year.

Probably running 3rd or 4th in the B & F this minute. Certainly ranked number 1 of our under 25s.

If I had to guess. Rank (age):

1. Steven (26)
2. Roo (33)
3. Seb Ross (22)
4. Montagna (32)
5. Hickey (25)

He reminds a little of both Dal Santo and Joel Smith. He's really starting to come of age now.

The doubters are starting to come onboard the Seb Ross bandwagon now 'saynta', it's taken them a couple of years

Has anyone heard the young man give interviews? Very articulate, not the usual "umm, ahh the boys played well, we knew if we stuck to the game plan it would work", "we knew the opposition (however weak they were/weren't) would come out hard".
No this lad, answers the question asked, then qualifies his response with examples, that helps you understand what the roles certain players were required to do at stages of the play. Very analytical and illuminating are his responses.

I can reacall this pre-season Seb was taken on that 'leadership' camp, the future leaders were taken on. (I don't think hedwas selected to go the pre-season before). I can recall reading on the Saints.com site that Seb Ross was the one that surprised Saints hierarchy on the camp with his development. Previously he had been rather quiet, not voicing his opinions in meetings nor at training. It was reported at this years camp, Seb was one individual that notably stood up and took over leadership roles, when the groups were faced with confusing, confronting scenarios, more importantly the article mentioned how his ideas were readily supported and followed up by his team members.

JAck Newnes has been hinted by many at the Club as a future captain, Seb Ross IMHO is another quiet achiever over the past 2 seasons who now may be possibly putting up his hand as well.
I think we have two good choices there with Jack & Seb , two lads who have worked extremely hard on their fitness and technical footy skills whilst quietly developing their leadership attributes.

Jack is a good average footballer at this stage of his career. Hasn't had a starring "break out" game to date.
Have not heard him interviewed so can't judge him in that area. All in all, Seb at this stage leaves Jack Newnes for dead.

I don't think the gap between them is that big...Newnes has a better boot on him. Both good players working well together.

Seb Ross looked huge in the song huddle - was standing next to Bruce I think and I was surprised by his height - just under 190cm?

I'm going to have to offer a dissenting opinion here.

Yes he has the talent and the ability but I can find it really frustrating to watch Seb Ross step away from those 2nd, 3rd and 4th efforts when the ball is still within his vicinity but he appears to stand back and let someone take on the effort to re-capture the ball.

My suggestion is appointment of Aaron Hamill as a one on one coach/mentor about how to go about continuing those 2nd and 3rd efforts and the rewards that come doing that.

Just an oversight. But you are right. Gilbo is versatile. Can go mid, fwd and back. Clearly elite and in the top 50 in the AFL which makes him definite top 5 for us. Probably top 3 if you consider his versatility, height and athleticism. Very versatile as well. Good pick up.

Ahem.

Gotta gloat a bit now. I crowed pretty early, actually in the NAB Cup game at Morwell last February against the Non-doping top ups, when he badly injured his hammy that he was THE player who would lift our midfield. I'll go and have a beer now to celebrate being right (for once!).

Somebody somewhere on this forum mentioned Greg Williams. We will be extremely lucky to ever have a player of Diesel's caliber ever were a Saints jumper (unless Harves makes a comeback) but Seb's ability to get a clean disposal inside off the traffic jam draws a reasonable comparison for me. Neither Seb nor Diesel are / were elites in the kicking Department of the fastest on their feet. Both compare with quick brains and hands though.

Quick brains will nearly always beat quick feet. Pick the odd man out - Seb, Sam Mitchell, Rhys Stanley. A clue: it ain't Seb or Sam.
