Is it true that we traded Dal Santo to North Melbourne for pick 25 which we used on Longer?
Was that a good trade?

He was a free agent, he walked to North.

We traded 25+41 for Longer+48. We then traded 48 for Bruce. Overall that trade period was:

Retired: Blake, Kosi, Milne
Delisted: Ledger, Lever, Saad, Ferguson (r), Staley (r)
Traded out: McEvoy
Free agent out: Dal Santo

Drafted: Billings, Dunstan, Acres, Templeton (r), Weller (r), Holmes (r)
Traded in: Bruce, Delaney, Longer, Savage

Doesn't look terrible overall to me.

Yes, he was a free agent and we got 25 in return as a compensation pick, which we used on Longer. There were minor picks involved including the one used to get Bruce, which incidently, GWS dis not use,

I said it was basically true and it was.

Nope, you missed Delaney, who they traded to us for nothing as part of the deal.
So it was Longer and Delaney for DalSanto and -7 draft positions.

Who do you barrack for Anthony? The forum rules allow opposition fans, so it's okay provided you are not baiting.

No, I didn't forget Delaney who the Roos didn't want anywy. They traded him to us for a 5th round selection which they never utilized.
Dal wanted us to get some compensation for him , which was pick 25. We used that on Longer.Delaney was the steak knives. Is anyone going to argue that we got the better of the deal?

Dal trade was more upsetting to me than Goddard but for cap room we had to.

Cap room? We're currently struggling to get to the minimum, got cap room coming out our ears. Was that really the only reason to let him go?

I actually think Longer is going to be good for us long after NIcky Dal has hung them up.

Exactly, I think it will be pretty easy to argue that we have done well from that deal in a year or two. Mind you north lost nothing bar salary cap, so it wasn't really a "deal".

If North don't win a flag will Dal Santo, Higgins & Waite then they've over-estimated their list... Already lost greenwood, could potentially lose more if their cap is tight.

They probably wont even make the 8 now. Higgins is their best player easily. Should win their B & F.

Funny thing is - we can finish Essendon's season off good and proper tomorrow, and then finish off North's in Hobart in round 20. Hope we do it too.

Fair effort in a side which lost by 10 goals.

Kicking efficiency was around 30%, maybe even less by the end. He butchered the last few I saw. Very ordinary.

Spud
Dal
Waite
Boomer
Petrie
Wells
McMahon
The ducker
Probably more.

The cliff is coming. Couldn't happen to a nicer club.
