There's been lots of speculation over Jack Steven in recent times.

Are we better off with him on our list, or with the draft pick that would come to us should he depart?

While that is interesting to ponder, there is a significant difference between allowing a player to leave, because the player wants to leave, and actually pushing him out the door.

The draft pick that potentially comes to the club should be seen as compensation; not as a reward.

An announcement this morning that Jack Steven has re-signed would be fantastic news.

Rebuilding is never easy. However a recent B & F winner should not be ushered out if the soul of the club is to be maintained.

Great news. Must keep your middle aged stars. We lack that age group anyway. It was madness for those or should I say CW wanting him to leave for an unknown. Next is to sign Armo to a longer deal. By the way with our cap probably struggling to get to 95% you would think Jack has already passed lenny's highest yearly wage. Right place at the right time for money. Hopefully eventually right place at the right time for success.

Great news - there was absolutely no way the "brains trust" could have sold it to the masses if we'd let him walk.

He was the most critical signing for this club since Roo was reportedly being wooed to head to the Gold Coast, and to lock him in for 5 years is a great result. Now it's up to Jack to repay that faith and get back to his B&F form.

Yes, it's really great news for the Club and a very important signal to other players, supporters and sponsors. A key signing.

Whether money played the key role or not, it's great for the Club to get the job done and 5 years is a good deal for both.
