Upcoming Game

Post: # 1534154Post tony74 »

We'll be fielding a pretty inexperienced team on Thursday. From what I gather Hawthorns team will be full strength. Could be nasty.
P?s. Another one had a very slight hamstring strain today but I'd rather not name the player until the teams are announced.

Geary also not named. As well as Armo or Saunders. McKenzie still no good.

If Armo's done a hammy then we could potentially be fielding the worst midfield ever to play an AFL game in round one.

Steven, Weller, Newnes, Montagna, Templeton, Curren, Acres and Saunders vs Griffen, Ward, Treloar, Shiel, Coniglio, Greene, Kelly, Whitfield, Palmer, Scully

Oh this could get ugly

It isn't Armo. Saunders has a SLIGHT strain. Armo could have played but they won't risk him,

Bright side - these kids are going to learn alot quicker being thrown in Thursday then being eased in via vfl. Games for lonie Goddard mccartin Dunstan etc are alot more important then the scoreboard midway through march Especially as this year we are expecting to be at our worst (as stated by pelchen in members email the week we traded mcevoy in 2013)

Just enjoy the player development like we did in 2002. Results are irrelevant.

17 out of the 27 named players have played 30 games or less

9 players have played 6 games or less

It'll be interesting, for sure

If by "interesting" you mean horribly one-sided then you're spot on.
But it's a pre-season game so the result is immaterial. Look at the Richmond v Port Adelaide game last weekend.

Roo, Geary, Longer and the injured didn't train at all. Brodie, Sam, and Daniel ran laps. Saunders jogged off after about 30 mins and came back on and did a couple of run throughs and then went off for good. Armo didn't participate but came on later and basically had a fitness test at the end.Spencer was worked really hard and was blowing big time at the end.
P.S. I Wouldn't normally be as comprehensive as this however Mark Stevens from 7 was there the whole time taking footage and interviewing Hickey so I'm giving away no secrets.

With all due respects tony, this is a practice match and we are a lock bottom 4 side.

No need for bubble type security this year - may as well be as open and honest as possible and do the good PR stuff to keep the supporters happy.

I hope Roo isn't injured.

That's rubbish SP. Of course we shouldn't tell any secrets on here no matter how poor we are this year. If the club don't want something in the media thee will be a reason for it.

Totally correct Plugger. There's always something they don't want the media to know. Club has a good relationship with
Mark and want to keep it that way.
And Saintpremiers you wouldn't believe the lengths other clubs go to to find any info they can on other clubs and players ( whether they're bottom of the ladde or practice matches )

This is a good chance to lull the Hawks into a false sense of security so they are over confident and we can jump them early in the pre-lim.

We had an opposition spy across the road in the bowls club pretending to be part of the Seaford Bowling Club. Problem was he had no bowls, had binoculars and the club wasn't open!!

The game's on Foxtel, isn't it? Should be moved to the horror movie channel. It should come with a warning, "if you're a saints supporter, some of the scenes you're about to see could be disturbing. Viewer discretion is advised."

I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

The Hawks won't be taking risks, and it expect it will be a closer contest than some think, even though the results are irrelevant, we need to show competitiveness and push them hard, and if we can do that then I know that we will be on the improve.
