Well ,leaving the JO at the end of 1964 wasn't a mistake, it was the smartest move we ever made playing in consecutive Grandfinals whilst winning one in the following two years.

We should go back there, then leave again.

What's all this Junction Oval nonsense anyway?

"... In the early stages the club played at an area known as the "Alpaca Paddock", next to the present site of the St Kilda Bowling Club near the St Kilda railway station..."

If it's our home we're looking for, then clearly the AP is the GO!

Let's end the vanilla days. Time to ramp up what this club is really about.

I've read soooooooooooo many despairing posts of late. :(

In reply, some people have tried to point out that we were worse in the 80's. (We were.)

But, the response to that, is that even then, our club still had stars, and our club had character!

St Kilda has never been vanilla! That is what I love most about our beloved wild-child Saintas!

(Besides, vanilla??? That's what those other same-same, ho-hum-yawn teams are for. )

St Kilda must never become vanilla!!! Do that, and we lose our soul! Nothing else is more important.

Never lose sight of the main game, Sainters. Never lose our character... never lose our soul!

Bump. (Sigh. I miss Pluggsy...)

Our beloved Saintas currently (yet again?) have issues. But they can be turned around. And one major major way to do this, is to stop becoming yet another pointless boring vanilla AFL Inc. cookie-cuter produced drone.

Return to what is our heart, our soul... our essence.

Tap back into this, tap back into our 'enfant terrible', wild-child, unconventional, but oh-sooooooo totally loveable true-spirit... and become the irreverent juggernaut we always should have been!!! 8-) (Up yours, Gestapo HQ!!! )

Personally, I find this article sickening.
Amart replaces Kia in $2M mega deal for Dons

Yep, $2million a season - for four seasons. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/ama ... 4zyvv.html
$10 million dollar debt. (That sounds familiar.)

$10 million dollar debt to be cleared by mid 2019. (That doesn't sound familiar. :( )

Why would a sponsor go near that cheating mob?

Why can't our club attract such sponsorship?

When our return to JO looked imminent, we were getting unsolicited calls from potential sponsors...

When will we wake up???

Is that a photo of our team back then ?
Can't say they have improved much since then.
Can't hit a target with a handball even if they try.
Just gather kicks by passing the ball backwards, there is always another pair of feet behind .

The more you know, the more you know you don't know.

Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Can the Saints bring sexy back?

The new president, Andrew Bassat, was briefly part of the eccentric Butterss regime. As the co-founder [with his brother Paul] of Seek, he’s a left-field entrepreneur and strategic thinker who needs to remake the Saints into a club that can – once again – attract players, fans, staff and sponsors, in that order.

To do so, he will need to rediscover the sexiness – the spirit of the raffish suburb that gave birth to the Saints – that left the club around the time of their catastrophic shift to Seaford. The Saints cannot replicate the cowboy culture that was evident in the Butterss-Thomas heyday – the game’s professionalism will not allow those excesses – but they can find some missing panache. Perceptions can change quickly. The Brisbane Lions gained a whiff of attractiveness simply by persuading Luke Hodge to move north.

St Kilda will not be successful by emulating Hawthorn; they must make a virtue of their maverick history. The Saints need to rediscover that edginess that might make them appealing and hip, without descending into the scandals that cost them sponsorship dollars in the years after the grand finals.

So, this year's finalarseists...

Hillbillies - desperately trying to hold on and not embrace shifting to rebuild mode. Ladder position flattered by their home ground advantage - again.
Dawks - see Hillbillies, minus the home ground advantage.
Wogans - underachievers. Not helped by ordinary coach, and having no supporters to make any noise when having to play the likes of the Skunks at a packed MCG.
Swines - see Hillbillies, only even the home ground advantage seems to be wearing thin at the moment.
Tuggers - only Jack R as a key forward, and the overrated Rance as a key defender - once again, when he had to actually play on someone... got beaten... once again. The emperor has no clothes!!!
Skunks - into a GF with Goldsack and Howe as key defenders, and only the unreliable and immobile Cox as a key forward.
E-grrrrrls - ordinary team. Ladder position flattered by their home ground advantage - as ever.
Dreamons - no Hogan, so only a fill-in (though good) key forward, suspect defence, but very good on-ballers. Were arguably the best team in it, and a real chance to go all the way. But, as suspected that the tanking mentality that (finally) got them a team lingered on. When under pressures, revert to what you know best... and then go skiing.

Summary:
Ordinary teams. Yet another flag that's there for the taking... yet. we aren't there to take it. :x :x :x

Hillibillies, Swines, E-girls - they were only where they are because of their home ground advantage.

We too, could be there, right now! With a very real chance to win the flag. Same re 2017 and 2016. Everyone on SS wants a flag. Well...

We must get back to JO!

Btw, how's our debt reduction going...? Cleared by 2019...? Sponsors banging our door down...? (Oh, wait, that's certain other clubs, that are considered more 'relevant'.)

Cue the derisive smart retorts from the usual suspects. But don't cue (ever, it seems :( ) any viable alternative to make our club exciting, vibrant, successful, and, relevant again...

Well there's little point in putting up an idea that while it would make the club "exciting, vibrant, successful, and, relevant again" will simply never, ever happen.

Or perhaps you may like to detail how it would happen.

There was a slight moment ahead of the last state election when something may have happened but that has been lost. And even then it would've simply been a training venue.

By all means keep aligning the club with our home suburb.

But the JO will never happen.

We're a minnow club with a huge debt and have just accessed significant government and AFL funds to establish Moorabbin.

How the hell does the JO happen Dave? Where will it be Dave? Who's gonna pay for it Dave?????
