According to ameet bains last night the afl have informed the saints that the decision will be made re ahmeds suspension today,

The saints have two rookie spots available and who they take will depend on how long saad is suspended for. One spot is earmarked for him depending on his penalty

Good for Ahmed and the club that it will be sooner rather than later (and in time for rookie draft), whatever the outcome.

Fingers crossed for something less than the maximum.

If the AFL can't get a guaranteed ruling before the rookie draft surely the club can negotiate an extra spot on the rookie list so it doesn't hinder us taking an extra player in the rookie draft.

Savatage that would be the afl working for St. Kilda for once. If so could be the beginning of a new era and very soon now swap our stadium deal with collingwood or hawthorn so St.Kilda can have a turn at some lucrative financial dealings.

Could be all changing and heading in a new direction even as we speak.

AHMED Saad has been informed of his fate after a hearing of the AFL's Anti-Doping Tribunal hearing earlier this month, AFL.com.au understands.

The delisted St Kilda forward was hopeful of being re-drafted by the club in Wednesday's rookie draft.

Saad's management confirmed the ball was in the player's court, indicating it was considering a response.

Under ASADA rules, all parties have 21 days to respond to the Tribunal ruling – meaning the AFL and St Kilda could not comment when contacted on Tuesday.

Why would we bother doing that. he cant play next year and without knocking the guy if we want him the year after he will be available because no one else we probably want him. Wasted pick if we rookie him.

The club would need to weigh up his value to the team/club against someone else. Then, and ONLY then will they be in a position to make a decision. We also need to keep in mind that ASADA/WADA have 30 days in which to appeal the decision !!

How would other players feel good though. He isnt allowed to train so I doubt he will just come and visit to say hello. What happens if we miss the next Milne just so we are nice. We werent nice to Winmar the year before when we delisted with a year to go on his contract. I doubt any other club would do it. And we can get him the next year anyway.

I agree with you MM. Cant really be anything else. Prob back date it to August. And really that is how it should be. Tested positive to a banned substance in competition.
