StNick says NO.
They will slowly unravel in the process become bankrupt then will be forced to relegate back to the VFL.

Will need plenty of careful planning and list management. From what I hear there wont be much quality left in this year's draft after the top 20-30, but 2012 shapes as a "SUPER DRAFT" with 2013 being not too far behind. If we position ourselves to take FULL advantage of this we should be able to avoid bottoming out completely. Having said that, it's easier said than done as there will be 17 other clubs trying to do the same or similar !!

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

The process has already started. Just look at how many new players have been introduced this year. Expect a lot of churn at seasOns end and then more of the same next year.

Yes, I would think so. The trick is to recruit well over a 3 - 4 year period, with at least one standout player each year.

It's a fierce recruiting jungle and Recruiters are trying to pick winners at 18 years of age, which is very difficult. Trading is a key these days for those Clubs in our position. We need to do better!

Our history shows we spend a few years playing finals and many years in the wilderness. Happy for Ross to rewrite our history as soon as possible.

I think it's entirely possible. In addition to getting good players with early picks, the key is to get bargains with later picks, such as players like Fisher or Siposs.

Yes.

And we dont have to rebuild....

Just say goodbye to 3 players for 2012.....maybe trade 1

And two more the following year.....maybe trade another

Some hacks will be delisted in these years, wont be missed........maybe try not to recruit rejects in the draft..

Absolutely possible to rebuild without bottoming out.

I think that a club with our history needs this time not to bottom out, but to maintain a winning culture, and never be easybeats again.

Geelong have famously never bottomed out, Sydney have a good balance between recruits and recycled. Can be done just need some luck. Finding a potential star like Steven and an A grade ruck of the future in Big Mac is a good leg up

What about you Helen?
Do you think the bombers can challenge for a flag without bottoming out, again?

You still haven't even blessed us with your own wisdom to the thread,

Ok, I'll give you my opinion...

At the end of this season we need to delist the following players...
Gardiner
Baker
Blake
Kosi
Jones
Clarke
McQualter
Polo
Gamble

1. Stay away from the Trading period.
2. If any teams show interest in any of our players only trade for picks.
3. Play the youngsters at every opportunity.

By the same token ..

Collingwood is likely to win 3 premierships in a row .. but will have a bleak period coming up in 6 years time that will similarly last for a few years.

They can't blame the sun (that they now enjoy basking under) for the darkness of the night that will certainly follow.

The same sun shines for everyone and the wheel will continue to turn.

We didn't make the most of our recent sunshine this time around, but there's always a next time.

Yes indeed, delist Jones. We need skillful players who can kick.
