C'est la vie/Luck of the draw/We weren't to know that our draftees would get injured.

Collingwood's senior team was weak at that time, that's why their draftees were given more game time, whereas ours had to kick their heels in the useless VFL comp.

It's the past, we can't change it, move on.

We have to learn from this and get our trusted scouts and recruiters to do a better job.

It's already been addressed, current staff are doing a much better job, and the results will show in the next few years.

I don't think we did too badly, we got Gardy, CJ and Armo who are 1st team regulars, plus Eddy and Geary. Could have been worse.

It's the past, move on. I mean we only got six premiership players from that draft- including 3/4 of a premiership spine.

Not sure why you've included 2005 finishing positions, though, as that has no bearing on the 2006 draft. 2005 is relevant I guess for Pendles and Thomas.

Really? I thought that where you finish on the ladder dictates what picks you get the following year. It doesn't? Did I get the years wrong or something?

Thanks for your opinion. And for the gloating. Enjoy your victory while you can, success is fleeting.

Just to pre-empt any sensitive souls out there, I'm not a Pies troll like this last poster trying to rub it in, just a big Saints fan wondering why we took Howard, Allen, Van Rheenen, Attard, Wall, Briss and the other no-marks while our competitors recruited players who killed us in the first quarter of the GF replay last year.

I think I may have just looked like a troll with that last sentence, but I promise; I'm not!

This is just a chapter.

Dawes and Tippett absolute bargains for decent big blokes.

Few mistakes of the top of my head,
Birss was from the bulldogs, and
Gardiner + 59 for 43.

Btw, was that our first real rookie draft?

Thanks for the feedback so far. I corrected the mistake about finishing positions. As for any other errors, I got all the info from Wikipedia, sorry if it's inaccurate.

The message I'm getting so far is that let's not talk about it, perhaps because you all realised this years ago, but I'm just now trying to process why we've fallen off the top and why we missed out last year. Don't try and tell me it was just a errant kick away from a premiership, that may be true but this year shows that that we are far from a champion team, which is what we all want to be.

Interesting that this post has been called "f****** stupid" by Plugged66. Perhaps you could enlighten me?
