Collingwood dream 2011 - AFL Admits Saints Have Tough Draw

Post: # 1019790Post SaintWodonga »

Why do the AFL bend over for them. Sick of it!

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/c ... 5945032119

At least we have 6 games at the MCG in 2011.

AfL even admits we have a tough draw..

Because AD's salaray has a bonus written in to it for attendance levels - higher attendances more money he makes, he runs the show therefore his instruction will be place Collingwood in venues which willget the biggest crowds (MCG) against teams which will provide the biggest opposition numbers ( Essendon, Carlton, Stkilda, Richmond).

Until the bonus on attendace levels is gone then this will always happen.

The draft evens up the comp the draw reintroduces the inequities of the comp!

+1

up until round 8 we have 1 fairly easy match (round 2) the rest is what think a real tough start to the year.

Eh? Look again.

Four of our first 5 matches are against teams who didn't make final last year!

2010
9 6-day breaks, 2 following interstate games
6 interstate games total
2 games at the MCG

2011
7 6-day breaks, 3 following interstate games
6 interstate games total
6 games at the MCG

All in all an improvement.

The only thing I'm really not happy about is another interstate game the week before facing Collingwood, who will not have travelled at all to that point. Bastards! :x

I care f*** all for anything to do with Collingwood. I don't care who they play where. I don't care about their president, their coach or their players. I couldn't give a rats arse if they play on the freaking moon.

I only care that we beat them.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

The draw is as fair as its ever going to be. We win enough games we play finals, we dont, we wont. Simple.

The journos would have had the "Collingwood Dream Draw" ready to go for the last few weeks. Who cares about their draw ? I just want to see us win at least 12-13 games and play finals.

Awesome draw.

Delighted with it.

All the opportunity is there for us to become a big club. If we want it.

If we don't want it, we can scurry away from the spotlight.

Big clubs, in time, get better draws because they have bigger memberships and other clubs want to play them.

So let's seize the day, win 16+ games, and make the most of the spotlight.

Spot on - big number of Friday nights, 15 games on free to air, 6 games at the MCG, 5 big games against top-4 sides.
If we can push 40,000 members again, we will be really setting ourselves up for another big year, strengthening the club.

WTF? Where in that text do you find the words "tough draw" spoken by the AFL??? They simply state the facts. As everyone here is saying, it's a good draw.

It's a very good draw as far as our finances go.

Geelong & Richmond @ MCG
Adelaide, Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon, Fremantle, Melbourne, North Melbourne, Western Bulldogs & West Coast @ Etihad

No home games against the two lowest drawing teams (Port Adelaide & Gold Coast).

Collingwood has a dream draw compared to any one of the unlucky teams whose home ground is the Etihad stadium - with its cruel surface., before we even get to the draw.

How true, this situation has been a bitch of mine for nearly 8 years now where Collingwood, and Essendon for that matter, have played at least 18 games in Melbourne whereas the "lesser" Vic Clubs have played 16 or less.
This biased and favoured draw is ultimately designed to boost patronage and dollars so as to boost Dimwits paypacket.
Let's not forget, the TV programming is also juggled to maximise Collingwood's coverage to also profit Dimwits paypacket, which is the largest (Millions) by a country mile of any sports administrator in the land.

It's not a draw. It's a fixture.

The word draw implies an element of chance.

spot on spot on
and we can include Thinline who's on the right track as well
Anyone would think that we somehow deserve a guaranteed GF berth.
...great draw, good exposure, and the increase in MCG games is good for the players, because thats what it is all about. Supporters can whinge, the club may not get the same financial cut at the mcg, but getting to the "G" is important.
Anyone complaining about corruption and collingwood games at the MCG need their head read.

I think that Inkersaint has pointed out it's quite good if you compare it with this year.

Playing at the MCG more often, and an MCG sized training oval now at the players disposal, will benefit.

At last someone not capitulating and whinging. If Saints are good enough then 2011 premeireship beckons.

Eye on the prize, nothing else.

OUTSPOKEN Hawthorn president Jeff Kennett has accused the AFL of deliberately handing Collingwood another premiership, after the Pies received a dream draw.
Kennett's claims came as the Pies were again given 18 games in Melbourne, plus two well-placed byes, and do not travel until Round 14.

"They always have a dream run, but it's getting even more dreamy," Kennett said.

"They've got 14 games at the MCG, and they don't travel outside of Victoria until halfway through the season. It's extraordinary, unbelievable."
Well said Jeffrey. I like a man with the courage of his convictions.

He's right of course.

I'd like to see our guys go on to the front foot a bit more often, though in this instance it would seem like sour grapes ... Which it would be.
