Ray won 12.4% of his ball in contested situations last year. He's now winning 26.7% of his ball in a contest. He's already got more contested possessions (39) as a Saint than he did all of last year (31 in 13 games). He's increased his average from 2.4 per game to 6.5. He's still getting about the same amount of uncontested footy, it's just now he's winning some of his own ball. He's increased his tackle count from 2.5 per game to 4.

Explain to me how the perception he's playing harder as a Saint than he was as a Bulldog is wrong.
going on those stats, the perception is right. maybe he realises this is his chance to cement himself as an afl player and is determined not to miss it.

i'm a fan. gets a lot of the ball, uses it well and is a very good overhead mark for his size.

Example: In discussing Collingwood wearing traditional jumper at away games and NM having to change. While Noddy and Healey were hypothesizing and talking crap Hird said before next week let's challenge the AFL to explain why this is so......good stuff.

I am sure he will be trained not to criticise the AFL but until then he is the best commentator on TV imho.
Good post.
How pathetic was The Guppy in trying to justify his selection of the Saints only once this year! He scrabbled back through past reports on games and players to try for some justification.

Whilst we are perception. Like you have said and many others he is a good mark for his size. He is actually 3 cm taller than Aaron Hamill was.

ah, okay. well he's very good below his knees for a player of his size. might be the answer as third tall forward

Funny isnt it. I would think he is upset he didnt take a chance to win a flag with us but would be very happy we are going so great. Again it is a perception thing. There are a few players he is close with so why wouldnt he want the best for them. Afterall I dont think he would want any other side to win it.

he's rapt with how we're going. always been a good saints man.

didn't take us all the way, but he played a fair part in getting this club to where it is today.

Ray is a good mark for his size. All the players who have more contested marks than he does are over 190cm.

It looked like all the teams we have played.
answering my own question.

according to foxsports "on the couch"
Goals conceded from turnovers (last 3 weeks)
WB 39
PA 27
Carlscum 26
Freo 26
Melb 25
WC 25

that makes three victims of the Saints pressure, and i am sure if you were to go back six rounds the list of scalps would grow.

Has Aaron shrunk?
