Clinton Jones effeciency improvement

Post: # 729676Post fugazi »

22 disposals at 91%.....he's really settling down to his role and picking his targets and knowing his limits....another great game....his opponent Danyyl Pearce didn't have any effect either.

decision making

the guy eats pressure for breakfast

seriously you can't teach someone this, he has stepped up a level with his use of the ball.

The list grows...

McVeigh, Mcleod, Kerr, Hasleby and now Pearce.

he's becoming a very good player ... and not merely defensively. he's quick, tough and seems to be finding the mark with most of his disposals.

Who does he take next week?

I would love to see him go head to head with Griffen.

Under estimated by opposition, which is a positive, I don't even get nervous when he has the ball now

BTW he even got sledged on the commentary regarding kicking for goal, not sure if anyone else picked this up???...Little do they know he is one of the best set shots for goal we have  within range of course

I feel very confident when CJ has the ball.

Never thought his disposal was terrible, it just looked awkward, but his decision making is very very good.

I seem to remember a lot of very very very high 2-5 meter kicks when he was first getting started.

what i like about him is that he'll back his pace to beat opponents, which he did a number of time against Freo, kicking a few goals

I think CJ's kicking, whilst looking unorthodox, has always been good when he hasn't been under pressure.

Last year he was definitely panicked by pressure, and with this year comes some renewed self confidence, along with his ability to adapt to the pace of AFL football.

It is this confidence that has been the major turnaround in his disposal effectiveness, and I would put one J. Gwilt in the same category. Mini is just about in the same boat also.

I am the first to admit i could not stand hes blatant lack of ability to find a target. But he has improved remarkably. Confidence is a big thing. i think he handballs a lot too which improves his efficiench.

CJ has now played only 30 games.....so the best is yet to come.

The best is yet to come.

With experience at the highest level he is starting to adjust and look more at ease.

His enthusiasm and work-rate stood out from his first game.

But he has been developed to know better what to do...and with game time and hard won experience he is now really starting to deliver.

We were short of pace in our midfield rotations....and CJ along with Gram is delivering on this.

But more than that CJ is now just not an outside player,,,,but us an inside one as well. This is a big plus for us.

A number of his goals have come about because he has had the pace to break free and secure the loose ball...these are goals that we rarely got in the past.

Match-up on elite quick mids...they are finding CJ hard to shake......and when they do not concentrate enough CJ has been running of them causing offensive damage.

Amazing what confidence does.

He can tag too - and that has been the difference. Beating his man has seen him grow in confidence in turn.

Well done CJ for rising to a tough challenge.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

and yet he still cops a few back handers from fans...
"... improving" well that comment is only late by twelve months.
"still prone to bad disposal" when you play in close you are going to make the contested error occasionally.

The fact is he gets judged unfairly, when CJ or NDS turn the ball over that's ok because they are stars. For mine he is a second year AFL player, judge him as such, & dont force him to carry round a negative tag.
And if I hear one more reference to Zac and "that" Rocca game....grrrr
