no tackling over summer???

Post: # 725173Post saintly »

what do you think about the fact that 2 saints said this week they did not do any extra preseason work on tackling?

so how come the change this year?

tactics suddenly coming together?

playing only the medicre teams?

Maybe the penny just dropped that there should be a belief in football that it is OUR ball and we are not going to share!

Pressure for spots means players have to do more and according to montagna, RL told them that to be a good team they needed to stop hoping a Cousins type would come in and make them competitive- they needed to lift their workrate on an individual level.

Hopefully the penny has dropped and they have gone to the next level.

i think it may be just the tactics coming together over the preseason. Maybe over the last year or two there was a general confusion over what the individual roles were, but now its 'clicked' and they all know exactly where to be and when, and this tough tackling footy is the result.

I certainly hope it lasts all year, cos its great to watch

it's not the tackling technique that makes the difference. it's the attitude.

But it is not just this year - we are infact 12/16 inc finals 11/13 in the H&A since Round 13 last year

So we have been travelling quite well since mid year last year!
We have only dropped 2 H&A games since June 20 2008 - being WCE - who we should have beaten and Collingwood which we all expected to win.

True there has been a marked improvement this year - but it has been on the cards for a while!

Quietly confident

Maybe the boys have all just committed themselves to step up this year. Accountability.

Good point..

and a point that RL has been making...though few seem to be listening.
