Montagna
How much has he grown since last year? Seriously, he is really earning his money now. Kicks some goals. Runs hard. Tackles. Has REALLY become a very good player now.

Have to agree that Joey is in career best form. It's worth remembering that not many seasons ago there were a few people questioning whether or not we should keep him for no reason other than he'd had a couple of years and wasn't setting the world on fire. Some players just take a little longer to find their place. Joey is one. There are probably a few others on our list in the same boat so before you call for them to be traded just remember they might also come good if given the chance.

Silly article. Considering Stevens is playing his first game this year, and he is one of them. Carlton have a quality mid field, but have faced no tests thus far. Richmon (enough said), Brisbane, and now Essendon.Cairnsman wrote:did anyone read the article today about Carlton's fab four. f****** gold, I hope the media keep creaming themselves about the farked four because the real fab four are coming.

yeah those 'elite' players would want to step up after looking at the half time score against the bombersSaint Corin wrote:Silly article. agree that joey has been showing this type of form for the last 3 years but it is his work without the bll that has improved. The whole team has but joeys work is luke ball like IMO

Joey has definitely gone "up" another notch this year as many have already written above. Both offensively and defensively he looks far more determined, just like the whole team.
Maybe it's due to the whole team "stepping up" their performances and it is just great seeing them play to their potential.
Maybe it is the improved fitness level of the whole team (Rooey hasn't hit his peak yet) as we watch Dal get so much more of the ball now. Could this be a new level of consistency?
Maybe it is also due to the fact that they have now reached their mature years in terms of body strength and endurance. Joey is looking like a "rock" now and looks to relish the hard tackling.
Maybe they all want to win a flag badly enough this year?
The season has only started and there is a long way to go and we have to cope with injuries and suspensions to prove we are a geniune challenger, but so far, so good!

A lot of those kicks landed at Rooey's feet, went over his head or straight to opposition players. He had a very good 07 & was very ordinary in 08. He has stepped up thus far but I'm reserving judgement until we play the big boys!BigMart wrote:Do you remember that he led the AFL in kicks in 2007.....and was Runner up B&F behind roo.......not sure he was average then....he is a v.good player....has been for 3 years..
He's lowering his eyes & HITTING THE TARGET!
He & Gram were my greatest frustations last year, great to see Joey is stepping up. Now if we can just get Grammy to hit the side of a barn more regularly....
