Agreed but from what I saw yesterday the Eagles were pretty much running around the wide open spaces at Subi doing as they liked under very little pressure and intensity from a struggling Portwe wouldn't want to underestimate them. any drop in pressure and intensity is likely to to be exploited.
I think, ( better make that hope,) they will come across something entirely different this week
If we continue in the same vein that provoked Crows coach Neil Craig into declaring that the pressure we placed on his players was
we could be in for a good win, for that's a big call!a match for anything I've seen in a home-and-away contest

X Clarke has to come back in, he's performing in the twos, and he's the king of the pressure game that we're playing at the moment.
IN: X Clarke
OUT: Gwilt
Gwilt's role was very hard to work out on the telly, but he didn't show much, again. He's had a total of 24 touches, 5 marks, 4 tackles, 2 inside 50s in two games - many others could play loose man floating between half-back and half-forward better.
If Maxy's fit he could come in as well to help with Lynch/Hansen/LeCras, otherwise both Begley and Eddy are presumably very close to a run in the ones, being emergencies two weeks running, though not sure how good they've been in the twos.
IN: Hudghton
OUT: Geary
Geary hasn't been bad but has been pretty low-key, definitely the 21st man in the side, and someone has to make room if Maxy comes up. Dawson deserves another week or two, and having Max/Dawson/Gilbert/Fisher/Blake gives us plenty of options in the backline against a fairly tall Eagles forward setup - Lynch, Hunter, McKinley, LeCras, Hansen, possibly Cox, Embley.
But those two changes would give us a very old side - average age 26.3, which might be a problem.

Eagles have some pace and some lively small goalkickers.
A couple of things that tend to trouble us.
We shouldn't lose to interstate sides at the Telstra Dome but it won't be easy.
They caught us last year and we must not let it happen again.
Midfield will be vital as always, their on ball brigade is up and about and so is ours.
Remember they nearly won a game at the Gabba so they haven't done much wrong this year.
Tread carefully sainters.

We need to plan to stop Hurn and the Q-stick taking pot shots from outside 50.
They are both MASSIVE kicks of the ball. We need to have somebody run with Hurn to make sure he doesn't get handball receives from marks/free kicks taken by team mates outside 50.
They seemed to play a much longer game plan against the Power than the previous week. Don't know if they'll try that against us this weekend but we need to be ready for it.

I think Gwilt will play, we need his size and strength.bergholt wrote:X Clarke has to come back in, he's performing in the twos, and he's the king of the pressure game that we're playing at the moment.

Doubt that they would rush either X or Max in. Throw the dice and keep the same players andl let the other two have a chance to be 110% right.
Especially Max, we need him for the long haul.

From teh little I saw on TV yesterday coupled with the comments of teh 'experts' calling the game, it would appear that Port Adelaide could not cope with WCE's 'rolling zone'.
That raises 2 interesting points for us:-
We can cope with a 'rolling zone'
It may point out to us how to dismantle PA when we next play them.

Yeh I think we can. Adelaide beat collingwood with the rolling zone, but couldn't produce it against us, purefly because we were winning the ball and the clearences. head to head with WCE we should win. Will neeed to pay some attention to Kerr etc thoughMr Magic wrote:From teh little I saw on TV yesterday coupled with the comments of teh 'experts' calling the game, it would appear that Port Adelaide could not cope with WCE's 'rolling zone'.
