Sandy won 11.9 to 11.8....a lovely day in Bendigo...anf the ground there is in great condition and is really picturesque with a very old grandstand on one wing....there was a fair bit of wind favouring one end....

The game started at 4.15 pm after 2 TAC matches...

Saints players to stand out were X.Clarke...best on ground imho....McEvoy did well again in the ruck...he,Robert Eddy and Begley came back from Adelaide on Saturday morning then travelled up to Bendigo...Begley did very well..his tackling is very good...Leigh Fisher played well...Matty Maguire's struggling a bit...Armitage played very well and got a couple of goals....Eljay got a few kicks...he's very skilful....the players were interchanged regularly as it was around 27 degrees...Heyne had some good touches...Haretuku also stood out...

For Sandy, David Gallagher played very well...he spent most of the time on Nathan Lovett-Murray and would have got the points on the day...Scott Lockwood looked good up forward and got 2 goals...Nick Sautner was a tad embarrassed as he turned up at the ground just on 20 minutes from the start...he thought we were playing the game that started at 6.30pm!!...subsequently he started on the bench...in his defence the game was scheduled/rescheduled a couple of times with different starting times...

A few good pieces of news here. X B.O.G. 2nd week in a row. Geary, Gwilt, Jones, McQualter, should not be keeping him out of seniors.
McEvoy good in the ruck, another good sign.
And good to see Haretuku getting a mention.
No mention of Heyne, Stanley. Cahill, Tungatalum etc. Did any of these play or all in the reserves?

Whereabouts are Stanley and Lynch?

Gehrig emerged from scans yesterday saying he was "as sweet as a bun"

Can't believe I was oblivious to that game taking place!
The QEO is only a few K's from my place and yet I was totally unaware Sandy was playing there.
Ive never missed a Scorpions game there & I was hoping to catch all of The Zebra ones too.
Would have been a great afternoon & It's good to hear that X is in form.

sorry...Stanley and Lynch both played....Stanley and McGrath shared the ruck with McEvoy...now there are 2 pretty tall options...they both appear to be lightly built but won plenty of hitouts...Lynch did pretty well...also playing were Gaertner,Howard,Miles and Smith....they were rotating off the bench regulalrly so didn't spend a great deal of time on the ground....we had 7 on the interchange

Tungatulum and Sam McGarry played in the match starting at 6.30...and as I had to be in Mentone at 8.30 I missed that game...thank goodness most of the drive back to Melbourne is freeway

I would expect Armitage, Xavier and Hudghton be back in the 22 sooner rather than later, but the question is who can come out?

Can't wait to get Armo into the seniors again, adds some hardness and goal kicking ability.

Not too fussed about X-man, he'd probably only be back in for a week or two before getting injured again.

When Max comes back will Dawson still have a spot in our 22? it's a tough one. It would give us the option of using Fisher further up the ground but on the weekend he showed how easily he is beaten in one on one situations so his position is still very shaky IMO...

So he sautner got benched for sautnering in late.

thanks for the report zabraman. very encouraging to hear about the form of x-man, leigh fisher, armitage and big mac.

there is enormous pressure on for a spot in the seniors and that is exactly as you would want it.

it's hard to break into a winning team, but fringe players knowing that one lapse in effort can cost them their spot has to be a good thing.

haven't given up on goose. while his body has recovered from those horrible injuries, his confidence hasn't ... yet.

it will come.

damm!

I read the game started at 6.30pm.....I was in Kyneton on Saturday, would've headed 35 minutes up the road for the match had I known it was on at 4.15pm with the kids!

Why disrupt a winning formula?

Geary - important player for tackling pressure on the forward line. Not a role X has shown he can do yet.
Gwilt - otpion as 3rd big wither bac or forward. Not a role X can play
Jones - creamed Mcleod in last quarter on Friday night. Does not deserve to be dropped
McQaulter - Hard at it tagger to put pressure on opposition. X has not shown in his career thus far that he can play this role.

Everyone gets rapt up in his potential but he has not delivered in how many years.
He is more likely to come in for a Ray, Milne, Gram, type player all of which won't be dropped, or alternatively someone will need to change their role as the players you mention have been critical in the increased pressure and hardness this season

I'm surprised Brad Gilder is not playing in the seniors
