THIRD QUARTER

2min – SAINTS GOAL – Stephen Milne
Sheer weight of numbers with multiple handball eventually led to Milne’s second goal with the outside of the boot.
Power by 52 pts

4min – POWER GOAL – Daniel Motlop
Set shot from 35m right on the boundary under the old scoreboard. Simple drop punt straight through.
Power by 58 pts

End of the day its a PRACTICE game.
SO lets say Port went into the game with a similar attitude..looks like the things they are trying are smashing whatever we are.

This is what we should hae been doing to Richmond last week..and their side was far weaker than the one we've fielded today

THis is the last game before Round 1...not Round 1 NAB Cup. Would you really experiment to the stage of being 10 goals down at 1/2 time and being OK with it?

Montagna delivers a perfectly weighted ball to Kosi leading in the pocket who is pushed in the back. Tough kick for the big man who misses to the left.
Any chance of using the corridor maybe?

Why didnt Gardiner play? A bit suprising. I would have thought he would have wanted to get another practice match in before round 1.

Interesting....

I think they would rather get 2 weeks of full training into him as he has played 4 weeks in a row. When you play a game you cannot train properly the next week especially at his age.

Exactly, no King or Gardiner...

They have been looking very positive for us, it's great to have both of them firing. Comfort yourselves with the fact that they will be in top shape condition for round one, and given that both of them are now 30+ I think it was an incredibly sensible decision to rest them...however frustrating.

No King or Gardiner - then I won't be taking much out of this effort. Just get some run into your legs and don't get hurt boys.

Totally agree that a rest for both of them was sensible this week. However, today is also showing that we best hope and pray that both their 30+ bodies make it through the season

Today's match is a bit worrying given the crap second quarter we obviously played. Wasn't the second quarter a problem for us last year? Wasn't it the problem against Brisbane in the first round of the NAB cup this year? Is the second quarter going to be an ongoing problem for us?

10min – POWER GOAL – Robbie Gray
Wade Thompson showed magnificent speed to the gasps of the crowd to run from 60m to 50m then float one into Robbie Gray who marked one-on-one at the top of the square.
Power by 64 pts

14min – SAINTS GOAL – Nick Dal Santo
Horrible turnover trying to bring it back across goals after a kick-in. We’ve moved it really well in the back-half throughout the game with plenty of run but that was ugly.
Power by 57 pts

19min – SAINTS GOAL – Luke Ball
Marked the Salopek kick-in from a behind. Hmmm
Power by 50 pts

22min – POWER GOAL – Brett Ebert
Perfect set-shot kicking from 49m.
Power by 56 pts

25min – SAINTS GOAL – Nick Riewoldt
Outmarked Troy Chaplin from behind (good kick) and slotted from 20m. He took a huge hanger in the second quarter but played on and missed from 10m.

26min – SAINTS GOAL – Tom Lynch
Won the following centre clearance, the ball went to ground inside 50m and Lynch was able to run on, gather and kick unattended.
Power by 45 pts

THREE QUARTER TIME
Port Adelaide 14.8 (92)
St Kilda 7.5 (42)

Looks like the eaints are in for another year of mediocrity. I guess that is no different from every other year. Lets face it, we dont have the cattle and we certainly dont have the mindset to take us to the top. We are simply not ruthless enough.

As far as I am aware Port are playing there strongest line up ie: no one missing - can someone clarify this???
