practice match at Shepparton Friday 6th march

Post: # 704108Post hellorocky »

not getting ahead of myself but it looks like we will play either Tigers or Pies at Shepparton next week according to the AFL website

http://afl.com.au/2009%20NAB%20Cup%20an ... #challenge

I suspect a few country supporters will head along to the game

EDIT - Deakin reserve is the venue, gates open 5pm, games starts 7pm. It may be worth pre-purchasing tickets as they expect the ground to be at almost full capacity (10000)

see here for ticket info (still no prices though) http://www.greatershepparton.com.au/afl.html

How to get there -

Beautiful timing.

Heading up to our place in Yarrawonga for the long weekend on that Friday so a slight detour and I can get my first piece of action for 09.

The last time we played at Shepparton was over 20 years ago. My then 16 yr old daughter was introduced to a young "plugger" at half time by Daryll Cunningham. Her eyes were glazed for the rest of the day.

Oh man, We have a game scheduled at the QEO here in Bendigo in March.
With the Saints bowing out of the NAB cup early, l had my fingers crossed.

Last time we played here was in 2001 v Carlton where we hit the front late in the last qtr. after trailing all day.

One of the highlights was an absolute screamer taken by Plapp (remember him? Yeah, that Richmond bloke) in front of the Grandstand. Such a pity it was never caught on film.

Just out of interest, was anyone else at that game?

Geez Dools, I'm watching it on delay and didn't want to know.

Was waiting for Cuz to tear it up, kick 15 from 48 possessions in the second half and justify the Tigers decision to take him...

So I assume he couldn't even win a NAB cup match for them?

It's okay mate, gotta say the best thing about the Tigers is their club song, and obviously I'm not gonna hear that tonight.

Are you a "Bendigonian" Eastern? I don't think anyone outside of Bendigo would know about ol' Dickie Turner & 3B0.
We are in the old Carlton zone & l like to say to people that when l was younger l could've played VFL/AFL but refused to because l didn't want to play for Carlton, therefore denying me a career in the big time.
ln actual fact, l was just a very ordinary player.

Dick Turner was also the area Truant Officer for the Education Dept. His area covered at least as far as Rochester to the North, and he couldn't swim, especially in the Campaspe River   !!
