Fiora admits to being too soft....kudos....

Post: # 702720Post saintspremiers »

Very provactive t-shirt to wear for an article photoshoot, but a very honest article written by Sheehan, nothing earth shattering, but well done to the Fizz for telling it how it is/was.

What a wasted talent - no doubt with a better headspace he could've been a 200 game player, not that we will ever now know.

One thing I wonder about is how well the club handled telling him he was sacked, given his known fragility??

The key message I got from the article is that players need to look after themselves to a degree, and ask for help rather than just wait for it to come....

A good article. I feel a bit sorry for him.

I hope all the most recent high draft picks can get the message - you can't just coast along through your career. It won't all fall into place automatically for you.

I wonder how the constant bagging and slagging off at him by his own supporters made him feel.

The lid is off after Round 2! Enjoy the journey, coz you just don't know where we'll end up. Live for today and seize the moment.

Will Star at East Ringwood.

Its a shame, but his career will be remembered as one of unfulfilled talent.

Cannot deny the opportunity was given to him.

Best of luck Aaron.

Bad luck Aaron, you could'a been a contender.

Good luck for the future at East Ringwood, except against Blackburn.

Brilliant article...

I had no issue with him personally, just thought he was a weak footballer...

After the article, this is obviously the way he approaches life, not just footy...

Good luck to him...

Had the ability to be a regular senior player but didnt seem apply himself,or work hard enough when the going got tough.IMO he was given every chance to prove himself & I genuinely feel sorry for him as well but you carnt keep hanging on to players that are not up to it or you end up with a list of could have beens & nothing to show for it.I wish him all the best in his future endevours & hope he enjoys his post afl career

I never doubted Fiora's talent, I don't think anyone did.

It was his heart and his ability to apply himself, sadly those 2 things are required to have a lengthly career in the league.

Hard not to feel sorry for him. I can kinda imagine walking into that room with Lyon and Drain sitting there, telling him that his career was over.
"No, I didn't argue. That might be a little bit of a downfall as well. I've just always copped it, never really come back with anything.

knows he struggled mentally, that he was dogged by his lack of self-belief and did little about it
There's a lesson in there for all of us.

LMAO

All the best Fizzer...a great article reminding us all that under all these alleged AFL robots are real people with real feelings.

Still remember him being by far the most verbose and thoughtful Player Chat guest

maybe the AFLPA should get him included in their 'Introduction to AFL football 101' study unit-- -

good luck to he and elly on the impending arrival

shows the importance of having mentors amongst groups and even for those coming into football clubs from other clubs.

I will always remember him for that screamer he took and landed on his head. How he didn't break his neck is amazing.

I think this quote says it all
"To be honest, it was probably the first time I've ever started following the off-season (training) program instead of just making up my own stuff."
Took him 9? pre-seasons to follow what he was supposed to do?

I am amazed at how skinny the guy looks. He looks like he never lifted a weight or ate at all in his footballing career.

Just proves what many of us always thought of Fiora... didn't want it enough & wasn't prepared to work hard enough to get it anyway.

A wasted talent & a great example to kids coming into AFL clubs of what not to do.

You had you chances Fizz & didn't take them. Probably lucky to get to 140 games IMO.

without sounding rude he just seems like a soft human being...perhaps a floater who couldnt stand up for himself at all

perhaps a pussy...nothing to do with his football ability either

Another of those seeming anomalies that will have to be remembered with a touch of sadness. I was always waiting for him to burst through and become a star
