If Farren Ray is an emergency for the first 6 games and the other 3 don't get a look in for the same time I'll be happy.

That would mean that we would be having a fair bit of success with a settled side that is close to our very best. My prediction 5-1 for that period !!

So if Ray gets a game, it's because we're struggling? Not because he's a good player?

That would be the way I would look at it.

I don't really rate Ray at all, thought he was an absolute spud with the doggies.

Fingers crossed for him though.

Steven looks the goods and looks ready. Should be played.

Heyne looked likely but not likely to command a spot straight away.

Ray I hope will be a dept player, though he does add pace, which gives us something important.

Lynch... don't know

Looking at the bigger picture, we could actually be a better side if Ray DOES play, because that will allow BJ, Gram, maybe even Fisher to move into the middle at different stages. Surely that's got to help?

Still waiting for closure ... if you get my drift.

Obviously the coach rates him to do a job... given they gave up a 2nd rounder for him.

He sointenly provides run, which we lack.

Will prove people wrong. IMO.

U heard it here! Nyuk nyuk nyuk.

Does Lyon even do the trades? I thought we'd hired a list manager to do those sorts of things.

In any case, we hardly gave up the moon for Ray. It was pick 31 (Jordan Roughead) for Ray and pick 48 (Nick Heyne).

I think he probably starts the season with the team, but he's not exactly guaranteed a spot. We've got a bunch of young players on the verge selection and they can't all come in for Clinton Jones.

Yeah nah pleasing positive

Jack Steven has never played a game......got in the scorps best about half as many times as Geary and Armitage.....

why is he labelled the next big thing.....is it because we need a next big thing and realise

Gilbo, Armo, Eddy, Geary, McEvoy, Lynch are not gonna be......even if they look OK, they will not be elite....

I watched him play about 15 games last season in the VFL and he was an OK HFF, who occasionally pushed into the middle.....his hands are OK, physically is OK, strength is OK, Speed is OK.....nothing elite (ala Goddard, dal)....

Armitage is a fair bit ahead of Steven as is Gears

At least you arent jumping the gun. Lynch hasnt played any AFL footy and you are writing him off. McEvoy has played one game and you are writing him off. Just one Question how did Loewe look after one game, Hayes, Lockett and even Harvs.

Of the youngsters who played against the Lions last Saturday night. I thought Geary was the best. I was also impressed with Eljay, even though he was only on the ground for a short time.

Havent seen much of him but seems to have a bit of ability. I hope they give him a go lets face it weve got nothing to lose by trying these kids. We have to see where their at & a bit of youthful enthusiasm might be the tonic we need .

IMO Farren Ray is a walk up starter & Geary, Steven & McEvoy are outside chances but not all 3 will get a gig in round 1
