the "Firey" Saint

http://aflpa.com.au/featurearticle/%E2% ... ason-break
St Kilda Rookie Luke Miles had some bad luck with injury in 2008 but made sure he had plenty to keep him motivated off the field, consolidating his off-field wins in the off-season as well as getting back to his home in Perth for a break.

Accepted into the WA Fire Brigade for 2008, Luke chose to put that opportunity on hold to see what he could achieve in football but he was keen to learn more about the ‘Firies’ in the meantime.

“I’ve been doing day and night shifts for the past three months, attending various calls including structural and non-structural fires, Emergency Medical Response (EMR) calls such as cardiac arrest incidents, motor vehicle collisions (MVA), fire alarms (FIP’s) and even a cat stuck under a house,â€

I'll keep an eye out for him.
Will give Windsor a tingle when I get back on shift and see how he is going.

Always great to hear what the boys do when they aren't playing footy.

Keep up the great work Miles.

Claire Mitchell-Taverner - hockey superstar back in the day. Good to see she's still working in sport.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

There is something about this guy Luke Miles. Gotta feeling he will make the massive step to top 22 by 2010s seasons end.

He has a very steady kick good awareness has the height and agility of MAX with a couple of hard pre seasons ????

Just have this good feeling about him.

I hope he is as good, or even better if that is possible, than one of our best ever full-backs who played in the Thirties. He wore #20 and was a firey. Also played for the Big V-------Stan LLoyd.

Should the title of this thread be renamed to "The Fiery Saint"?

He has very good potential but I don't get the comparison of height to Max. Miles would be about 185cm from memory? Way too short to play key position. He'd be a flanker. His kicking isn't a strength - it's his pace & his attacking nature that are his weapons.

Yeah I am pretty excited about this guy, I don't see him making All Australian but I believe he has a lot of potential to become a very good medium defender who can stop his opponent while creating forward movement.

Luke Miles seems like a bright spark, going from that article.

Good on the kid.

I hope he hoses down speculation of a move to Richmond with Dizzy Smith though.

8-)
