It was raised in this thread but some tool took it off topic in the second post.

Tony Elshaug moving from development to assistant is the only rumour I have heard.

Leaving at least one assistant vacant and one development manager position vacant, assuming Danny Sexton is still on board.

If the rumours are correct, the current coaching panel is:
R Lyon
S Silvagni
T Elshaug

Footy Management
M Drain - list and contracts
G Hutchison - footy manager

You absolute tool.

You'd never see me be a party to such shenanigans.

Yep, he left because he was lured by the Hawks, but I guess what would the Hawks know

Staff List has been refined with a couple of changes and I didn't think the person next to Simon Madden's name was Simon on the last list :D

Barker is the biggest Spud in AFL coaching ranks.

He is the pin-up boy for Jobs For Mates.

Can't wait to see how bad he screws up Hawthorn's setup next year. I guarantee you that on numerous occasions Roughead and Franklin will be found to be leading in the same direction - directly at each other.

As for you Fid ya turkey - still bothered that I didn't bite after your strange and confusing PM's the other week?

I'll repeat here what I responded to you then -

BORING.

I'm not bothered at all, I would expect that last PM coming from you...

In the previous PM I questioned as to why you got personal in the thread "TROLLS" , after my initial PM you toned down your response in that thread, and then your reply PM was BORING..

You again get personal with name calling in this thread...

I guess you know more than the Hawthorn Football Club who have lured him, after winning the Premiership

Words fail me on just how you think your opinion would ever outweigh a Premiership's sides value of an assistant coach...

Remembering that the Saints didn't sack him HE LEFT.

For two reason, Fiddles, I've just sent you a PM.

A) To clear up all those striking, breathtaking 'points' you illuminated above.

B) To save the decent readers of this forum from the sort of clumsy and inane bickering that you tend to revel in.

Bye for now 'o Captain my Captain.

again, that's why I sent you a PM to start with so the so called clumsy and inane bickering is off the forum...

This should have been a PM instead of being on here

Don't you get it :?:

Ok - if anyone has anything to add that is relevant to assistant coaches then please add it here. If not...then let the thread die a natural death.

FWIW, Hawthorn have hired JB because they have decided to tank in 2009 and rebuild for their next assault on the Cup.

The lid is off after Round 2! Enjoy the journey, coz you just don't know where we'll end up. Live for today and seize the moment.

Heard an ex Hawks player was interviewed a couple of weeks back. Not a big name though.

If he presents well in the interview process and projects his views he doesn't need to be a "big name" to be a good assistant coach IMO...

A question on Barker..... What did the previous Hawks forward line coach do wrong to get the boot in favour of Barker?

So you're saying... if I wear a nice suit, and I have an opinion about football, and I can talk... I can be an assistant coach at St Kilda?

Brilliant! Deal me in!

IMO your opinion about football means jack...

and any idea you have about an assistant couch means jack...

You have trashed the one that's left (not sacked) and has been picked up by the Premiership team...

Yep, they will be knocking on your door any time

Can't understand why they haven't announced replacements. Training is imminent with a couple of new coaches that will probably not know the players or the coaching practices all that well. I would have thought to get them on deck asap would have been a good move. These two appointments will be critical to the club's success in 2009 after losing both assistants at the end of 2008. Perhaps McGuane is worth considering. The season he spent with the mid field group did show positive results.

Maybe Hawthorn have taken on Barker out of pity to teach him how to be a forward coach.

He sure as hell didn't show that he had any clue in his 2 years at Moorabbin.
